MRGRAY, I was reading your thread regarding your quest for a 50K on the Six Quiz with considerable sympathy, and felt justifiably alarmed when you broke it off seven months ago. I would hope you know you enjoy bragging rights. Instead, we your readers were left wondering whether you were wandering in the wilderness, unshaved and unshorn, wild-eyed, dressed only in a loincloth - or perhaps in filthy rags, like the rest of us. Instead, you're promoting yourself as a conventioneer, on the Palooza thread.
My advice, since you're asking: keep your job, but regardless how slender your resume, pursue a better job and a better resume. Continue, as your personality advises, to ask more questions than you can answer, but couch your questions in plain language, and listen carefully to the replies you're proffered. Be confident of your personal integrity, but protect it. If you find yourself in an argument you have done nothing to provoke, defend yourself, or your position, based only on facts you can confidently justify. Once burned, twice shy: if your evidence is challenged on a popular topic, check and reference your sources. You are likely to be challenged again, especially if you opt for a career in politics, which your posts on this website generally recommend.
General knowledge trivia isn't really an end in itself: it's one of many points of entry into a world where argument among the elite species on this sphere is growing at once more rational and more contentious. Oh! And one other thing: Never become a Prince of Denmark.
