Smartest Bar Summer 2016? And, Buzztime marketing silence?

Buzztime has been running promos this week for a new Smartest Bar game, which they say will be on "Wednesdays this summer." There's nothing on their web site, nothing on their Facebook page, and nothing here about it. Does anyone know anything they can share?

I asked the owner of my usual hangout, Sinclair's Cloverdale, and he mentioned something mildly troubling. He hasn't received anything from Buzztime about it; in fact, he hasn't gotten any communication from them in months. They used to send him an email every week at a minimum, telling him about game usage. He tells me that he hasn't received a single email from anyone there in a very long time.

Well at least it's not on Mondays. But Wed is just as bad for BWW Gaithersburg. Live trivia elsewhere takes over. Thur would have been ok.

I'm still hoping Clint is working on a Spotlight/Playback combo tournament. Any chance on that Clint?

Same. Thursdays would have been better for the tourney because we wouldn't have the live trivia conflict.

And yeah, here's hoping we get that Spotlight/Playback combo. Good luck tonight, incidentally.

Just posted on their Facebook page - it begins August 10. From that point through the announced September 21st end date, it's a seven week event.

And with one week to go, still nothing on the Buzztime site (at least not under "Happenings" ... don't know where else they'd post it).

Remember when Buzztime promised us that we would never have to use Facebook or Twitter to stay up to date?

A couple highlights: Looks like it's a U.S.-only competition (boo!) and they imply that each of the first six weeks will have a different topic (arts, sciences, games, etc.), and then a final "championship week" with the topic being arts. It's not clear whether they're debuting a new game format (good luck with that, BT, that's always gone so smoothly before) or whether the guy that put the rules together just doesn't know how Six works.

ETA: Looks like there's finally an official link up on the BT site. And Canada is still excluded from the competition. Thanks, Obama.

According to this little pop-up they provided at Walsh's as a promo, the themes are:

Aug. 10: Old Stuff (Arts)
Aug. 17: Comedies (Shows)
Aug. 24: Go Big (Science)
Aug. 31: Parties (World)
Sep. 7: Kings and Queens (Past)
Sep. 14: Football (Games)
Sep. 21: Championship Week

Wondering if all the questions for that night (say, the Arts) will be related to that topic. That would at least make sense.
