It seems that repeat games have been airing again from approximately one month ago since last Saturday at least.
The following games have been all repeats:
1. Sports Trivia
2. Playback
3. Brainbuster
4. Sci-Files
5. Six (Wednesday)
6. History Trivia
7. Lexitopia

Maybe this is related to Buzztime running out of cash or not thinking they would still be in business after Monday if the merger did not happen?

This has happened before in spurts especially about a year ago at the beginning of the shutdown. The answer seemed to be a glitch in programming that wasn’t caught, the system is set to automatically air a repeat if there is a problem with the upload process. These repeats are not on purpose just a coding mistake or a failure later in the upload.

It could be caused by this in between merger time as you suggested. Possibly even shorter staffed than before while getting through these 2 weeks till the merger takes effect.

Hopefully The Beatles comes up tonight. Topix was correct last week on both nights.

This is an occasional occurrence that has been going on for probably 15 years now. When premium/specialty games repeat, it's the game from 4 weeks prior. It can also happen with entire blocks of CD games. I don't think it has anything to do with games downloading at various sites since it's system wide. When it's just a local issue the repeat game is from the week prior.

It's just something funky in their archaic code that everybody is scared to touch. Yes, I've heard BT employees state exactly that.

The funny thing is, even with repeat games it's amazing how few perfs there are.

Except Showdown, games last two nights have been repeats from Feb 16, 17. At Teasers, we drank and the goal was not to make the same mistakes as last time. Worked except for still screwing up the SNL host matching and nobody can remember Sci-Fi.

Looks like Buzztime fixed the issue thankfully.
All games were new tonight and Topix was The Beatles as advertised.

I'll believe it if tomorrow night is Lady Gaga.

Well, Playback continues to repeat the Headliners. It was supposed to be Lady Gaga, but instead we got Cher again from a couple of weeks ago. My problem with repeat games is I always question, "was that the correct answer or was that the wrong answer I used before". LOL

In all honesty, the headliners for the past several months (since they started posting them again) are just recycled headliners from previous games - often with many of the same questions from the last time they were used as headliners. This isn't just isolated to the covid era. Buzztime would often go a few months each year doing that. The worst stretch was about 8-9 years ago when they would recycle the Headliner, they would always use 9 of the 11 questions in the round from the previous game and just throw in 2 different/new questions. That will always be a problem until they have the resources to write a full game of new questions.

Odd thing is the questions in the other rounds of Playback tonight seemed to be new/fresh. They were not the same questions when Cher was the Headliner a few weeks (4?) back. I do agree the Headliner round of Cher were all the same questions as 4 weeks ago.

The posted Topix categories were also correct this past Thursday and Friday.

At this point the posted Topix categories are more reliable to be correct than the ones posted for Playback.

You are correct there.
