It looks like Buzztime has decided to raise the price for new installs of both the streaming no boxes system and the Elite 10 tablets package. The streaming, BT app only, price went from 25 a week to 50 and the Elite package with 10 tablets went from 100 to 125. This is for new bars not existing BT bars. I hope they didn’t get a price increase too, but maybe they will at their next renewal date?

Just when I was trying to get a new bar to get the streaming app only set up, they have doubled the price. $100 a month was not bad for a gamble on trying out BT but now $200 a month is not looking good for this possible bar.

I wonder if this has to do with the new Buzztime Bets app coming out this fall? Got to pay for the roll out of that somehow.

Just to confirm, is there still a minimum one-year commitment to paying for the game, or something like that?

I have no idea what the minimum commitment is. I would guess it’s still a year. That seems to be when other streaming bars that aren’t getting much play drop out.

Just checked out what's offered for new installs and there is NO option to get the tablet system.

Bars can now only get the streaming no boxes package using the customer's phones or iPad/android tablets for $75 per week. That is $25 more than it was a few weeks ago (includes Buzztime bets) and $50 more than it was a few months ago. There is no longer the $125 per week tablet option.

The new name for the current new install system is now called "Buzztime Scheduled" and includes Buzztime Bets for Qb1 which is $25 per week by itself.

At some point phasing out the blue boxes and tablets as they die I would assume. Got to save money and costs for the bars and buzztime somewhere but they will lose so many customers.

Everyone needs to start getting a Ipad/android tablet or a old phone on bar wifi to use as their playmaker. Keep your regular phone free. At Stained Glass Pub, which has blue boxes, we have lost the TV feed. TVs say no signal but work fine on all other sports channels. So we have to use the app to see the questions with the blue boxes. Older players are not happy and are staying away.

On Saturday 11/25 this old dinosaur was able to play Speed Freaks, on an old blue box, on an overhead TV that the bartender was happy to turn it to. Felt like 2005 again. Literally wouldn't have it any other way.

I looked at the Buzztime pricing page https://www.buzztime.com/business/pricing/, and found
that the pricing for the BYOD model is now down to $149 a month.

Cool, a 50% price drop for the streaming, 24/7, bring your own device system which is the only system currently offered to new installs. That includes the regular Trivia network, Buzztime Bets and Live Trivia.

From $75 per week to about $37.

With the price dropping a little, I wonder if Buzztime has a marketing team that looks at cities where a site could be successful.
Kentucky for instance only has 1 open site. However in the Louisville area, they have 21 players with over a million points that have played in the last 6 months despite not having a site to play at. It seems like that'd be a good selling point. This isn't recuiting newbies, but you already have some players in town.
There are probably other cities like this, but I mention Louisville because I always wanted to go play a few games at TGI Fridays with Scar, Dante, and Cloudy back in the day.

Hey Jerad, it does look like there are many players from Louisville still playing remotely and they could support a site.

BUT…….I believe in this case it’s just one guy Fishman playing all those handles. Cloudy has passed away years ago but someone has been keeping his handle going. The other handles used to be all political in the past but it seems he’s changed them. Could be 2 people.

Good idea but probably not for Louisville. Any Louisville players out there say otherwise and would support a new trivia site?

It seems the only way a new install happens is by a player referral or a bar contacting BT themselves. It doesn’t seem there are any completely cold call sales going on.

Ah I forgot about FSHMAN, that makes sense.
