How about this one? One of Roger Corman's B-movies that just recently came out on DVD but one that had alot of potential and give rise to several future big names as Robert Englund and it's set designer...an unknown guy at the time known as James Cameron. Also had Ray Walston in it whos resume speaks for itself. The story/plot of the movie was sound as well, although the ending could've used a bit more work.

Cheers,

Tiamat, most of the gals probably won't agree, but the old guys, who have seen "Galaxy of Terror" (1981) think you have come up with a great sci-fi movie to see.

"The Old Man Who Cried Wolf" (1970) was an excellent made for TV movie. It starred Edward G. Robinson, in what may have been his last starring role. It is well worth watching, if by some miracle you can fiind it.

Nope, that was "Soylent Green". At least that was the last movie in which he appeared before his death.

You're right, but I don't think that would be a starring role.

That last moving image is one of the freakier ones I've seen. Bizarre.

Another one for Cloudy to look up. It Happens Every Spring, 1949 with Ray Milland.

"It Happens Every Spring" (1949) is a good recommendation, CARDS. I remember seeing it when I was a kid, and really liked it. I kind of remember the story line, but I can't remember the ending.

There was another movie probably made around the same time, that I also liked back then, about some kid, who was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. Somehow he got some kind of magical power, that made him an ace pitcher for the Bums. However, the kid decided to quit the team, so the Bums could win fair and square, without his magical power. Anyone remember or know the name of that movie?

"Isle of Lost Ships" (1929) is a movie I saw a long time ago. I believe there was an earlier silent version of it made in 1923, but I can't find either for sale. I think that Jason Robards, Sr. stars in both of them. As my very foggy, senior citizen memory continues to fade, I will stick my neck out anyway, and recommend this movie to anyone, who can find it. Good luck, I've been looking for years, and for some unknown reason, they won't allow us to buy the flick and watch it.

"Forbidden Planet" (1956) will not be an obscure movie for old timers or sci-fi buffs, but I've got a feeling that a lot of you youngsters have never seen it. This is one that you should see. It stars Leslie Nielsen in a serious role. I think you might enjoy it.

My Kids all think it was a great movie. It was in color, unlike most 50's and 60's movies that were made in black and white. They also like the original "War of the Worlds", but that was also in color. I think my kids are blind to to B&W movies and TV. Unlike us they grew up totally on color TV and movies.

I thought I had seen every Alfred Hithcock movie 3-6 times, but Monday Night TCM is showing one I have never seen or heard of. OMG, I ended a sentence with a prep. Anyway the movie is "Stage Fright" starring Jane Wyman and Marlene Dietrich. I will watch it. TCM's blurb calls it a "Minor but intersesting Hitchcock tale".

"Planet of the Vampires" (1965) is a pretty good sci-fi, horror film. Better yet, it's in color. Won't give the plot away, but it's about a spaceship from Earth that lands on a strange planet, that has a very bad surprise for them. Even though everybody won't care for this movie, if you are a fan of sci-fi flicks from 40 plus years ago, you should see it.

This was actually a really good movie and had a sound plot/storyline. One of the few from that era I'd love to see remade but then we all know how most hollywood remakes turn out.

"First Spaceship on Venus" (1960) is a darn good sci-fi flick. Again, many won't care for it, but if you're into this genre, this is one you need to see, and it's in color...!

''War of the Worlds" (1953) is indeed one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made! I would have to think that most of us, who post here have seen the movie, but if you haven't, you really need to.

Check these links out to see some good footage from the movie:

Here are just a few I'd recommend. I know some aren't obscure but I know a lot of people may have heard of them but not seen them.

Metropolis - Just a great movie visually and the soundtrack I'd suggest watching it to is the 1980's version by Giorgio Moroder. The early techno/pop vibe fits the movie perfectly.

The General - Buster Keaton at his finest. He is able to express so much through his face and movements, a true genius.

Kind Hearts and Coronets - Alec Guinness plays eight characters in this funny British film.

Quick Change - I believe the only movie Bill Murray directed, this is one of the funniest movies I've seen.

After Life - Japanese film about what happens when you go to heaven. You can pick only one memory and it will be will you for eternity. Here is a great description and review about it. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbc ... 60301/1023

Walk Hard - a great send up of movies like Walk the Line, with an excellent cast and an awesome soundtrack.

Exit Through the Gift Shop - a great film about street artists, directed by Banksy. You think the movie is going to be about one think but changes half way through. Also, will leave you guessing at the end. Nominated for Best Documentary last year.

The Art of the Steal - this is the description "Documentary that follows the struggle for control of Dr. Albert C. Barnes' 25 billion dollar collection of modern and post-impressionist art." It sounds boring but it is truly a wonderful and heartbreaking film that show what can happen to a persons personal collection of art when others get involved. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Hope you enjoy my recommendations.

I watched Exit Through the Gift Shop and The Art of the Steal last week, and I enjoyed them both.

"This Island Earth" (1955) is a sci-fi movie that I think was one of the best in its day. It's a strong recommendation for sci-fi buffs.

"When Worlds Collide" (1951) is a classic sci-fi movie. It has a good story line, pretty good special effects for the time, acceptable acting, and it's in color! If any of you sci-fi movie buffs haven't seen this movie, you're missing something.
