Snopes. It's there to help you not waste everybody's fucking time.

Geez, ale. Get with the times. That's Snopes' old slogan.
After extensive research and trend analysis, they changed it last March to: "Snopes. If you don't believe us, go fuck yourself."

I thought they shortened it so it could fit on bumper stickers. "Snopes. Fuck You"

I guess the stereotype that the left needs to tell everyone they are wrong is popular again. Oh, wait, nope that never went out of style, when has the left passed up the chance to tell everyone else they are stupid and 'we' know everything..

Guess we are in for six more weeks of political bickering.
Thanks a lot Cloudy.

Yeah, bickering. He passes on a lowlife right wing accusation that's easily debunked by anyone willing to spend 30 seconds on the internet. Oh, also, anyone with the slightest level of healthy skepticism towards anonymous third-hand chain e-mails. Guess that leaves you out.

Nice, glad to see you haven't changed. For the most part folks are kidding on here. Although, Cloudy might be serious about some of the stuff he posts. He is joking about most of it. I do notice you have to use a slur when talking about the right wing. If you have me pegged for a "lowlife right winger" then you are sadly mistaken. Keep up the good work. :P

Joking...? Would I make silly stuff up...? Heavens to Betsy, NO...! Just go back a page, and you will find a very serious post, where I state that presidents from other planets are okay.

I've got proof. Here is the little known alien president, who ran the country for a short time after Nixon resigned and before Ford was sworn in.

Image

Need some help here guys. Can't remember this president's name, or which planet he was from, but as I remember, he did a damn good job, while he was in office.

I'm not a left-winger and yet I never shy away from letting people in on the secret that I know everything.
Perhaps I'm a closet socialist.
If I am, do I have to share it equally with other closeted socialists?

Liberal or Conservative...? No thinking, intelligent person is either one of them. There are a lot of issues out there, and each needs to be thought about independently, without mindlessly taking a position, simply because pundits tell you that they are either liberal or conservative questions. When someone always comes down on the same side (liberal or conservative) of all issues, I will say that person isn't thinking. They have surrendered their thought process to something that borders on a religion, that does not permit thinking or questioning.

I am a firm believer in the Socratic method. Everything needs to be questioned, even our own feelings and ideas.

Though many, who know me superficially, would label me as a conservative, I hold many positions that most people would consider to be extremely liberal.

Intelligent people should never define themselves as liberals or conservatives. They should view themselves as people, who think, and take positions on issues, based on their merits, rather than an adherence to a pseudo religion of liberalism or conservatism.

This is the "Chip the Bartender" thread, right...?

A place where anything goes, right...?

Okay, here goes... :D

The Earth has never been visited by extraterrestrials, and most likely never will. Anyone, who believes differently is a fool...

Now, that should get something started. Bring it on. I'm ready.

p.s. I would prefer serious arguments, but I can handle the silly stuff too.

Image

Oh, my gosh, there they are over the Capitol Building. Looks like I might be in trouble... (I'm not.)

If you believe the theory that basic lifeforms on earth originated from meteors, comets, etc. that impacted the earth during its late formative stages, then, technically, all life here is extraterrestrial.

I believe this photograph is a cropped picture of a 1952 black and white photo, that caused quite a stir at the time. If you can get the complete photograph, you will see that the street lights in the foreground are an exact mirror image of the lights in the sky. Either the UFO pilots skillfully positioned their flying saucers to precisely correspond to the street lights, or the camera's lens might be responsible for creating something in the sky that wasn't really there.

p.s. Tried to Google the original photo, but couldn't find it. Hmm, could the Men in Black have something to do with this?

That could be true, but I lean towards the theory that says life came about on Earth by accident, when after billions of years some chemicals, that could reproduce themselves, finally hooked up by chance in warm seas. I believe that the Earth had all the natural ingredients needed for life to come into being, without extraterrestrial help. Who knows...? :?

(Hell, this is probably going to get the Garden of Eden folks jumping all over me.)

Hey, how about Flight 19...?

Image

A lot of people think those five TBM avengers out of NAS Fort Lauderdale in 1945 were swallowed up by alien space craft. One minute they were there and the next they were all gone. Strange radio transmissions were received from Flight 19 before its disappearance. An extensive air and sea search never found anything, and they were supposedly flying in the Bermuda Triangle...

p.s. The movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" starts out with extraterrestrials returning the aircraft from Flight 19 to the Earth. Could Steven Spielberg be wrong...? :?

I can't believe it...

Is there no one out there, who thinks we are being, or have been, visited by intelligent life from outer space?

There are hundreds of books, photos, and videos out there that say extraterrestrial visitation is a fact. Come on guys, don't be afraid, to tell us what you think about this.

Image

I can understand that some of you might be concerned that the Men in Black may be monitoring this web site. I guarantee that you have nothing to worry about. DANTE has blocked them out, and he's still alive, so let her rip. Let's hear your stories.

Have you been listening to Coast to Coast again?

Seriously, I think the nearest intelligent life outside Earth is light-years away. But that is such a vague term. If a planet of, say, Sirius, has a life form that has roughly a dog's level of intelligence, that would be quite remarkable (and ironic.) We could not communicate with them, as they would not be advanced enough, but it would be intelligent life.

The nearest intelligent life capable of things like radio transmission, space travel, and NTN Trivia is likely within a few hundred light years. That would be much too far for them to be visiting us!

Damn it, you've started stealing my thunder, that I was saving for later.

We won't hear from the UFO believers, if we trash their ideas at the beginning of this thread. I think it would be more fun, if we get to hear their side of the argument, and get into a debate. I'm gonna give them a chance to make their case, before I unleash the rest of my thunder.

No such thing as "extraterrestrials", the distances between worlds are too great.

The facts be known... All the reports of alien beings probing posteriors & carving up cattle are simply our great great great great great great great grandkids coming back through time to screw with our minds.
Suck it up & get a life. (or not) 8-)

Guys, keep this up and we will never hear from the UFO believers... :(

ICEMAN, you too are stealing some of my thunder, but I'm still holding it back to unleash at the right time.

p.s. Go ahead and tell us the truth as to what most likely happened to Flight 19. ( I know...)

Flight 19 was no great mystery. It was simply a bunch of guys that were not having very good luck with their marriages & girlfriends & decided to break free. They ended up in the Bahamas kicking back, living out the rest of their lives enjoying the local babes & sucking down Bahama Mamas...

The best evidence now looks like they crashed in the Offekanoufie swamp in Georgia. That swamp has swallowed many airplanes with no evidence. Flight 19 will be coal in 20 million years.

Pretty imaginative, but zany stuff won't get it here. This is serious shit. When the "Men in Black" come knocking on your door, you will realize just how serious the things we are talking about really are.

p.s. I've got a feeling that you couldn't identify a TBM Avenger from a blimp.

p.p.s. I love you man, and I think I should help you on this. Here's what a blimp looks like...

You could be right, however, this is what I think is a more likely explanation. (Tried to Google it tonight, but couldn't find confirmation, so what follows is off the top of my inebriated head at this late hour.)

I read this in a Naval Aviation publication way back a long time ago, when I was still a Marine pilot. The flight leader was an instructor very new to the area, and presumably somewhat unfamiliar with what he was flying over. The other four aircraft were piloted by rookie student pilots. They drifted south over the Florida Keys. When they realized they were lost and fuel was getting low they flew west, thinking they would find the mainland. Instead they were flying farther out into the Gulf of Mexico. When their fuel ran out, they all splashed. Everybody was looking for them in the Atlantic, but they weren't there. Got a feeling that someday those TBM Avengers will be found somewhere at the bottom of the Gulf to the west of Key West. The aircraft might be spread about a bit, because they all wouldn't have run out of gas at the same time.

p.s. If they had crashed in the Okefenokee swamp in Georgia, I think the planes would have been found by now. Also, they would have seen land before they got there. I doubt the TBM's of Flight 19 are in the swamp. However, a UFO mothership might have gobbled them up.

The Thomas Mantell incident happend right here in Kentucky back in 1948. Mantell was in a flight of four P-51 Mustang fighters headed back to Godman Army Airfield at Fort Knox that day, when they recieved a radio message that there was a strange glowing object passing overhead that needed to be checked out. Mantell went in pursuit of the UFO, while the rest of the flight were forced to land, because they were low on fuel. Alone, Mantell chased the UFO, desribing it over the radio as huge and metallic. Suddenly, his radio went silent, and his P-51 plumeted to the earth, killing him.

This strange UFO event has yet to be fully explained.

Sad to say, he ran out of gas. He should have landerd with the rest of the flight.
