You seem to be on top of this stuff, and I don't think there is much I can add to what you already know or think. However, if you listened to Pinetta's comments, it sure sounds like waterboarding was a factor in finding out where Osama was hiding out. The mainstream media interviewer had to ask repeated questions, before Pinetta finally told the truth.
p.s. There are probably a lot more people we will hear on the mainstream media, who would like to deny its truth.
I've actually seen several print stories, each side claiming credit on the issue. Some claim that waterboarding helped. Others claim that waterboarding did absolutely no good and other methods were the reason.
It's absolutely no surprise that it turned political immediately after we got him. Politics is a 24/7 game.
About the only time this country fully unites together anymore is in time of a natural disaster or a tragic event. And even that unity doesn't last long anymore as even something like Katrina turned political very quickly in the days that followed.
Politicians are so concerned with catering to their constituents, and getting reelected, that they will seldom agree with the other side, even when they know that the other side is right, and it is for the best. Yes, they will unite for a while, when a crisis demands that the right thing be done. However, once the crisis is over, they will return to their partisan ways. They will kick the can down the road, even if they know that it is only postponing an inevitable disaster. Most only care about getting reelected, and as long as the disaster occurs after they are dead or retired, they don't give a shit.
They just want votes today.
