Pretty funny... Even though this was some humor at my expense, it was funny nonetheless. :D

Just to let you guys know that I actually know something about calendars, I thought I would invite an old friend of mine to the "ScaRatings" to tell you that I do.

"Project X" (1987) staring Matthew Broderick and Helen Hunt was a good movie about a U.S. Air Force experiment that abused chimpanzees, and a couple of young people, who want to save them. It's not a great movie by Academy Awards standards, but it's a fun movie nonetheless. I highly recommend this movie for you to watch with your kids or grandkids. They will love it, and there's a possibility that you might love it too. :D

Here's the trailer for the movie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0de66wOE4Y

p.s. Don't confuse this with the 2012 movie "Project X", which is an entirely different movie.

"Attack of the Giant Leeches" (1959) is a black & white sci-fi monster film which only ICEMAN, FrankC, Pengwn, SPOTES, and I have ever seen. Get a six-pack of beer and order a couple pizzas, and watch it. (On second thought, make that a case of beer.)

It's hard to believe, but I think there was a remake of this film in 2009.

Anyway, here is the trailer for the original 1959 version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwzXPvJpHq4

p.s. Acually, this is indirectly an ICEMAN recommendation.

I thought of a movie tonight that I haven't seen since the last century. Fast Company starring William Smith. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079138/?re ... mg_act_155 William smith has been acting since the age of 9 and is still at it after 72 years.

Conan's dad eh? 8-)
I'd never seen that one. I found a site online that has it, I'll have to give it a shot.

"Wreck-It Ralph" is a movie that BRUTUS recently mentioned on page 34 of the "Computer Games New and Old" thread. I've asked him to tell us more about this movie here.

Hopefully, he will because it sounded like a good one to me.

[quote="Cloudy"](I've decided to move the directory of movies on this thread up to here. Having to page back such a long way to find it is too much for most people, so it's here now. Addtionally, as it grew it would have eventually started to push movies that came after page 23 off the pages that they were listed on. I will no longer update the old directory on page 23, but I will leave it there so as to not screw up the pages that movies are listed on.)

A DIRECTORY TO ALL MOVIES ON THIS THREAD

Here is a listing of all of the movies that have been recommended or mentioned on this thread, so far. With the thread growing to 23 pages, 299 movies, and 554 posts, it has become difficult at best for anyone, who might want to refer back to something, to ever find it. So I took a couple minutes to create this directory. I have done my best to list every movie that was recommended or mentioned in order. They are displayed by the page they appear on. I have given credit to those, who first posted each movie. I regret that I didn't think to keep track of which ones were recommendations, and which ones were merely mentioned. Duplicate recommendations were skipped, when I found them, but a few may have slipped by. (If anyone finds any mistakes or things I skipped over, please let me know, and I will correct them.) (Obviously this thread has grown to 33 pages, 437 movies, and God knows how many posts today, but I decided to leave the original introduction as it was, and not edit it.)

Wreck-It Ralph (2012) is an animated Disney movie about a video game villain that wants to be a hero so that he is liked by the other characters in the game. In order to do so, he leaves his game and travels to other games that are in the arcade but in doing so he starts a chain reaction that ultimately threatens the game that Ralph is in and possibly others in the Arcade as well.

In Bruges is a movie starring Colin Farrell. Its a somewhat dark movie about a hit man, but very well done. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780536/

"2016: Obama's America" (2012) is a documentary movie written and directed by Dinesh D'Souza, an immigrant from India. DANTE, may consider it teetering on the controversial side. However, even though liberals may find it somewhat offensive, it really isn't all that bad, and they should watch it. On the other hand, conservatives will really enjoy this movie.

Here is trailer 1 of the movie:

Here is trailer 2 of the movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G1OT5gzb48

Here is an indirect link to Dinesh D'Souza commenting on the movie. (Sorry, I couldn't find a direct link. Just click on the first link to it when you get there, titled "Dinesh D'Sousa Analyses Predictions from "2016: Obama's America in Late 2013", and it should play for you.)

"America: Imagine the World Without Her" (2014) is another Dinesh D'Souza documentary film. Liberals probably won't want to watch this movie, but they should. Conservatives will find it very informative, and they should watch it too. Dinesh D'Souza is a brilliant immigrant from India, and a Dartmouth graduate, who loves America, as we all should. The movie is a little bit confusing at the very beginning, if you don't realize that it is George Washington, that the British sharpshooter killed as the movie began. This movie is a very strong Cloudy recommendation...!

Here is trailer 1 for this movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98DfrVjxCQg

Here is trailer 2:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPsLB11POtQ

Get this movie and watch it. It will be a patriotic experience, that you will find uplifting. I don't normally give away the ending of a movie, but I will make an exception this time, so you all can all hear Madison Rising's rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" that the movie ends on.

Here's a link, where you can see and listen to it:

Without giving it away, it would be interesting if some of you posted your favorite movies directed by Alan Smithee.

(This may be a duplication of a previous post, that I might have made years ago on this thread. If it is, this one might be better than the first.)

Peter Seller's "After the Fox" (1966) is a great obscure movie, and I recommend it to any of you, who have never seen it.

Now comes the "and a little bit more..." part of this post.

The Beatle's song "Good Morning, Good Morning" from their "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album (1967) could possibly have some connection to "After the Fox". There are two connections which stand out. The first is the title of the Beatles' song. "Good morning, good morning" was repeatedly said by Victor Mature in the movie. Unfortunately, I was unable to find video of Victor saying it over and over again as he greeted people entering the movie set. However, I did find the clip that led up to this scene. Here it is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo_LNKZyl2U

Now for a little bit more of a possible connection. The Title of the movie, "After the Fox" has to make one think of a fox hunt. Sorry, you will have to listen to the very end of the Beatle's song to hear it, but if you do, it ends with sounds, which are clearly from a fox hunt. Here's the song:

p.s. Victor Mature was a Louisville native, who died in 1999.

Does Anyone have some more obscure movies you like...?

If you do, put them up here. I'm always looking for more flicks to add to my collection.

p.s. "Obscure" is a very subjective concept on this thread. Basically, if you think it's obscure, then it is...

(I'm waiting...)

Trying to go real obscure on you. It's a cartoon, but it centers around time travel and isn't the worst movie ever.

(Believe it or not, I watched the entire film.)

MRGRAY, you win the prize... This has to be one of the most obscure movies (cartoons) ever made, or at least ever posted here. However, it might be the most thought provoking and challenging one to figure out. It could have multiple meanings, but there is definitely a message about life hidden within it. It goes in many directions, moving from one scene to another without warning or explanation. At times it can be confusing, and you say to yourself, "Huh..?". It keeps you wondering what that meant and why, as it leaps to wherever it wants to go. Those, who watch it, will interpret it differently, and find their own meaning as to what it means to them.

I think that I understand the movie's messages and what they're telling me. However, I won't post what they are out of fear that I might bump my head into some hard object, and leap back in time. Once there, I would find myself back in 1965, sitting in my philosophy and religion freshman college class. The professor would have just turned the movie off, and would say, "Your assignment is to write a ten page essay explaining what this movie means to you." Then as I rode my bicycle back to the dorm I would fall off of it, hit my head on a hard object again, and leap into the future, where I would find that I got a D- on my essay.

MRGRAY, I have to believe that you are an intellectual, who once taught a college philosophy and religion class, or at least took one.

p.s. I must warn anyone, who decides to watch "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", that it lasts for at least an hour or more. At times (Not many) it might help, if you know how to read kanji. You should also know that any comedy, drama, or adventure you might find while watching it is incidental at best. It's a movie that challenges you to think, and try to figure out the message and meaning of what you have seen.

p.p.s. I don't believe "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" is actually about time travel. I think time travel is only a vehicle it used to tell the tale of its message of life.

p.p.p.s. I Googled several sites that told the movie's story. All of them simply related a synopsis of what they had seen. None of them bothered to think what it meant. I wish that all of those, who wrote those simplistic reviews, would fall off their bicycles, bump their heads on a hard object, get transported back in time to my freshman college philosophy and religion class, and get an F on their ten page essay.

p.p.p.p.s. I thought it only fair, that I post a link to the trailer of this movie (cartoon). Relax, it's only a minute and twenty seconds long:

I'm glad you watched it. It's nowhere near the best anime movie out there, but like you said, you can get a lot out of it.

The trailer you linked seems to be some unfunny gag where they took the audio from Inception and put footage from TGWLTT over it.

It took some perseverance to get through the whole movie, because it was so long, and didn't seem to have a narrative that appeared to be leading anywhere. However, I stuck it out, because I felt obligated to do so. I'm glad I did. Once I figured out that it was a story with a message, it became much more interesting.

Thanks for putting such a thought provoking movie on this thread, that very few would have ever seen without you post. :D
