The "Talk Like a Pirate" web site is a hoot... :D

We had a link to it on the old original "ScaRatings", however, it was lost when the old "ScaRatings" closed. I went out and found it, after SCAR admitted his handle was really his pirate name one night at Friday's many years ago. SCAR followed his confession with a half dozen or more pirate jokes, such as: "What kind of socks do pirates wear?" and "Where do pirates buy toys for their kids?"

Here's the link to the site:

http://www.talklikeapirate.com/translator.html

I'm finding that things have changed. I believe that the "Talk Like a Pirate" web site used to have a pirate translation of your name. It still will translate English sentences to pirate talk, but to get a pirate translation of your name try this link:

http://www.mess.be/pirate-names-male.php

It's fun, and if you go there fess up, and post what the "pirate talk" translation of your name or handle is.

It's only fair that I go first. In pirate talk "Cloudy" is "Swashy John".

'Bout 8 weeks too early. That most holy day of the Pastafarian calendar is 9/19.

May you be touched by His Noodly Appendage,

Checked you alternative "Pirate Name" web site out. The survey was kind of a pain in the ass to go through to get to my name, but I did it, God damn it.

MR ALE, if I didn't love you like a brother, I wouldn't have done this for you. Hell, you've got a good pirate name. MR ALE, hoist the skull and crossbones to the top of the mast, swagger on deck, unsheath your saber, because, ARR... this is your pirate name:

FROSTY BUTCH

Come on guys, September 19th will soon be upon us, and I'm worried that most of you won't be ready for it. Though it is unlikely that any of you will ever be forced to walk the plank, knowing how to talk like a pirate just might save you life someday. You never know...

I've been observing "Talk Like A Pirate Day" for the past 7 years now.

I even had my students answer history questions in Piratese at the middle school one year. However, the kids continued to talk like pirates in their other classes.

Good thing I fly-fished with the principal!!!

Arrr matey, I truly believe that you are a wonderful teacher, and....

Oh damn, Peg Leg Silver just spotted a Spanish Galleon on the horizon. I've got to sharpen my saber, and get ready to rape and plunder... Talk to you later...

Shiver my timbers, "Talk like a pirate day" snuck up on me. I should have been listening to my pet parrot, who kept squawking, "Cloudy, wake up..!. This is the day...! Cloudy, this only comes once a year, and you're snoring away."

I've got a good excuse though. Last night I was sailing on the Caribbean aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, that Blackbeard left to me in his will. We were pillaging and plundering until dawn. I took all the booty back to my house and fell asleep.

Getting the Queen Anne's Revenge across the Gulf of Mexico, up the Mississippi, over to the Ohio River, through the McAlpine Locks, and dropping anchor at the pier in Louisville took a lot of time. Though I am ashamed not to have been here for you guys, please understand that I was out there doing good pirate work.

Image

We berthed her well. She lies at rest at the Louisville pier, while we are rearming her with more gun powder and cannon balls.

It's marked on my calendar and I have already added the Pirate Name generator to My Favorites. I have kids named Jellylegs, Barnacle Breath, Parrottless, and my favorite...Not-So-Fond-of -the Women-Folk

Also warned the servers at the home site.

Here's a link to help you talk like a pirate:

http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html

Here's a link to what Wikipedia has to say about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internatio ... Pirate_Day

All of you sea dogs, pour the pirate sherry today, and you bilge rats be happy with what grog you may find. Me hearties, this is a day to make merry.

As you celebrate the day with a bottle of rum, and the skull and crossbones flying from the mizzenmast, you might want to play this song in the background:

Blimey, ARRR ship has sailed past the International Date Line, and "Talk Like a Pirate Day" will be dropping anchor util September 19th sails into sight next year. All ashore who's going ashore. Mateys, don't spend all of your booty on the first buxom wench, who catches your eye, after you swagger down the gangplank. You will need to have some doubloons left to pay for the "Talk Like a Pirate" classes, which will be held aboard the "Queen Anne's Revenge" in January, as she makes every port on the Spanish Main during her two week cruise. (All of the grog and rum you swill down are included at no extra cost.)

Image

........ "Yo, Ho, Ho...! Don't tarry lads, she sails with the tide."

p.s. Yes, there will be Buzztime Trivia on board, but all of the "Topix" games will be about famous pirates, pirate lore, pirate cuisine, and other pirate related things. I also believe there will be a "Pirate Lexitopia" game, which as I have been told, won't be easy. :D

I suspect Tiefly's "Fish Questions" thread would double at the least.
