War Of The Worlds

A station in Toronto Canada, CFZM 740, will play the original radio broadcast of War of The Worlds tonight (10/31) at 10pm EDT. If you, like I, can't get the station on a regular AM radio due to distance from Toronto, you can listen to the station over an app for the iPhone/iPod Touch, Android, and possibly other devices. The app that I use is called TuneIn Radio. You can also listen to it via their web page at http://zoomerradio.ca/

Yep, I listened to it & it brought back memories as a kid. I tried recording it on a portable cassette recorder when I was in Jr. High, it wasn't the best of quality. If you could hook me up I would appreciate it. PM on the way.

I watched the "War of The Worlds" rock musical last night on a PBS station. It was OK, but I would not pay to see it in a concert venue.

Here is Wikipedia's comment on the radio broadcast of "The War of the Worlds".

"The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938, and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by actor and future filmmaker Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds.

The first two thirds of the 60-minute broadcast were presented as a series of simulated "news bulletins", which suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress. Compounding the issue was the fact that the Mercury Theatre on the Air was a "sustaining show" (it ran without commercial breaks), adding to the program's realism. Although there were sensationalist accounts in the press about a supposed panic in response to the broadcast, the precise extent of listener response has been debated.

In the days following the adaptation, however, there was widespread outrage and panic by certain listeners who believed the events described in the program were real. The program's news-bulletin format was decried as cruelly deceptive by some newspapers and public figures, leading to an outcry against the perpetrators of the broadcast. The episode secured Welles's fame."

p.p.s. Anyone with half a brain should have known that because of the distance between Mars and Earth, that the the Martian spaceships could never have gotten here in the time frame the radio broadcast suggested.

Ramón Raquello is 100% completely and totally real. I will have to check to see if I his music

DANTE, you have a very intersting face. It is a face that has worked well for at least three famous people. Here they are:

1- Leonardo DiCaprio (I know this is the one that you hate.)

2- Orson Welles (The new one, I just discoverd)

3- Jack Black (The one you will admit to.)

There are better photos of these guys, that look a lot more like you, but these are the best I can up with tonight.

p.s. DANTE, all of these guys are accomplished actors, and have made megabucks. Have you ever thought of going into acting...? Seems to me that you've got the right face, maybe you should give it a try.
