Here are five more from ones I have ripped:

1- Why Do Fools Fall in Love" (Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ji_C94OXZc

2- "Summertime Blues" (Eddie Cochran)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZZD8ckwLJA

3- "Chantilly Lace" (The Big Bopper)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b-by5e4saI

4- "Shout! Shout! (Knock Yourself Out)" (Ernie Maresca)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxDRIaxSDB0

5- "Do You Love Me" (The Contours)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgtpreUfcS0

Damn, I loved "Do You Love Me", when I was a teenager, but I have grown old. However, the Contours have also grown old, and here they are singing that great song for us once again:

I need some help finding the soundtrack from the movie, "The Fish that Saved Pittsburg" on a CD for a reasonable price. I ran across it on Amazon.com, but the price was ridiculously high. If anyone can help me on this, I will be forever grateful. Thanks.

Ah, Johnny Cash...

He's one of my favorites of all time. I particularly like "Jackson" but the other ones are great too. Heck, let's listen to "Jackson":

Great songs Jim...!

The one that jumps out at me is B. B. King's "The Thrill is Gone". It's a wonderful song, but it is also the song that the "ScaRatings" most banned player, ICEMAN, referred to, when he upset us all with his post that we might not see him again here. Thank God that ICEMAN reconsidered, and has once again become a posting maniac.

p.s. I went to the link you gave us for B. B. King - The Thrill Is Gone (Live at Montreux 1993). Great video...!

Here are five from Ringo Starr's "Sentimental Journey" album. Ringo will surprise you with how well he sings these songs. Yeah, these songs don't seem like ones that you would expect from Ringo, but check them out. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Ringo can do more than play the drums, he can sing too...

1- "Sentimental Journey"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyWFwbIFw9c

2- "Night and Day"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba8Y0NyccDc

3- "Bye Bye Blackbird"

4- "Stardust"

5- "You Always Hurt the One You Love"

Get ready for some bubble gum music from the early 1960s. Though most of you won't care for them, I thought they were great.

So here are five from Bobby Rydell:

1- "Wild One"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXtveF8Usn8

2- "Kissin' Time"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ89Cf3q8Do

3- "We Got Love"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqr4NHaPvBo

4- "Swingin' School"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1ZNMrV7UcE

5- "Volare"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MprNWH625aw

(Bonus track: Bobby can still sing "Volare")

Where has everybody gone...?

I don't want to be the last person to post to this thread, but I will be, if someone else doesn't jump in with their last five songs redux. This will be my last post here, until one (or more) of you guys or gals put some songs up here to listen to and check out.

For any of you, who might be hesitant to post to this thread because of the word "redux", relax, it just means brought back or revived. In other words it simply means the last five songs you have listened to that you consider as oldies.

Let's see if this gets this thread moving ahead again...

p.s. Don't worry if somebody else might have already mentioned any of your songs. Nobody cares if any of your five have already been mentioned by somebody else. :D

I've been in Upprovince Alberta, so insert whatever absenteeism excuse from your Upstate New York excursions as you see fit, Cloudy ;)

General Taylor -- Great Big Sea
The Flag -- Barenaked Ladies
Mary, Mary -- Chumbawamba
Antarctica -- Vangelis
Cirrus Minor -- Pink Floyd

Currently listening to Fisherman's Wharf, by the late, great Stan Rogers

Thanks PENGWN, I'm gonna check them out right now, and to prove that I did here are links to each of them:

1- "General Taylor"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASdb00xMndU

2- "The Flag"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mV2u5P9W3M

3- "Mary, Mary"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXiswqKR0Rs

4- "Antarctica"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOwuniIgYXM

5- "Cirrus Minor"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wwtc5I757Jc

Not bad, I liked the first two best. I've already got one Barenaked Ladies CD that I liked, and I'm thinking that maybe I should pick another one up now.

Thanks again... :D

I went CD dumpster-diving at the Goodwill store this afternoon, and picked up some great ones for just $2.25 each. Here are five from the "Only Dance: 1960-1964" CD:

1- "Bumble Boogie (B Bumble and The Stingers)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvGNBTosRAs

2- "The Name Game" (Shirley Ellis)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHwVYKh7IUY

3- "Mockingbird" (Charlie & Inez Foxx)

4- "Dancing in the Street" (Martha & The Vandellas)

I think the Barenaked Ladies were at their best at the start of their career, and have steadily tapered down ever since. Gordon is a solid album and the disc I hope you own, Maybe You Should Drive is excellent, Born On a Pirate Ship was a stumble, Stunt and Maroon are respectably good, and everything after that I just haven't been able to like all that much

I went on a binge in the iTunes store last week, so the new (to my collection) music is what I'm listening to today

Don't Follow Me -- Carly Paradis. A classically-trained pianist, Carly's Hearts to Symphony album was plugged by Phil Plait on his Bad Astronomy blog. Fantastic recommendation, if you like music that's mysterious and moody in tone

I Can't Drive 55 -- Sammy Hagar. Standard rock radio fare

The Pirate Song -- Spray. A nice mellow change for this pair of British dance-electronic musical nihilists

Toccata and Fugue in D minor for Organ -- Johann Sebastian Bach. I already had the Toccata in my collection, but not the Fugue. This was part of The 50 Darkest Pieces of Classical Music compilation, which at six bucks is a hell of a good value

Carmina Burana: Fortunæ plango vulnera -- Carl Orff. Also part of the above compilation. "O Fortuna" from the same work is very well known, and was the basis of a Rickard's Red commercial last year

Currently listening to Are You Ready to Fly? by Dune. A late-90's rave act from either Denmark or Germany, their music is all about getting sweaty on a dance floor
