Congratulations Phil Humber on the 21st perfect game in baseball history...and the second perfect game for the White Sox in the last three years.

I heard him interviewed. He was quite modest for his incredible feat. He said he was lucky that a lot of the balls were hit right at his fielders. (A foot to the left, an inch to the right, or a half-step to the bag, are what make baseball such a great sport.)

He was also lucky that the umps didn't blow any calls.

The ump most certainly blew a late call.

It didnt look like a swing to me to end the game but after last years debacle I dont blame the ump.

After the Galaraga blown call two years ago (or was it last year), I wouldn't doubt if the umpires weren't told not to be the reason someone loses a perfect game. Some umpires (like Bruce Froemming in the Milt Pappas near perfect game) claim they don't know that a perfect game is going on. I'm sure others do have a pretty good idea. Checking the swing is such a judgment call. But Ryan should have run to first base right away once AJ lost the ball. He didn't. He paused, started jogging, then stopped to argue. If he would have run, he very well could have beaten the throw. As a hitter, never assume a call.

Well, the same can be said for those two suckass san diego padres who stood on their bases with their heads up their asses, assuming that the home plate umpire had signaled a foul ball. Instead, they ended up making MLB history as part of the first 2-5-6-3 triple play.

You know ESPN, they can't cover a perfect game AND a triple play as long as there is a Red Sox/Yankees game going on. Heck, I'm surprised they mentioned the perfect game.

Guys, the triple play was several days prior. Was covered backwards and forwards by ESPN.

I didn't know it was earlier this week. They talked like it happened yesterday.
