I just started reading "Give Us This Day" by Sidney Stewart which I picked up at a used book store. I guess it should be called a semi-autobiogrphy. It was publish in 1956. It is the story of his surviving the Bataan Death March and 3 years of hell in Japanese POW prisons.

Finished up the four Hyperion books and The Forever War by Haldeman. Back to Fevre Dream again, and reading Song of Kali by Simmons.

Also a few thousands pages of stupid ass manuals and tech guides, but those don't count, as they're joyless. :D

Finished The Dreaming Void and The Temporal Void by Peter F. Hamilton.

Continues the Commonwealth Universe store line introduced by Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained, though set 1,500 years later (though with some of the same characters).

Looking forward to the final book in the trilogy, the Enternal Void.

I'm trying to read "Just After Sunset" by Stephen King. It's not his best work, but not terrible either. It's a series of short stories so just as you're getting into it, the story is over and the next one begins.

I got "Under The Dome" by Stephen King for Christmas. Have been thinking about starting that book, definitely a long read but looks good. All I keep thinking about is the Simpsons movie though when looking through the storyline. lol
Cheers,

Gone through a bunch since last posted here, but currently finishing Anthony Bourdain's newest book. Highly recommend it.

Sounds interesting, probably reads more than a lil differently than Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives". Image

Unfortunately the blurb is a bit of false advertising. They try to make it sound as if it's Bourdain ripping on people the entire time. It isn't. In fact, the vast majority of the book is not that at all. Quite a few of the chapters are incredibly touching, especially when he discusses his daughter.

Then again, on a personal level, I feel a certain kinship with Bourdain and his descriptions of both himself and his worldview, so I'm probably a bit biased. :)

Just started "Veeck as in Wreck". I intend on finishing it by the pool at Bellagio after I lose all of my money on the first day of my trip.

"Heaven and Hell" by Don Felder with Wendy Holden

An enjoyable "tell-all" book. His teen years and early friendship with Stephen Stills, the Allman Brothers and "Tommy" Petty are pretty interesting.

In retrospect, I surprised he lasted that long as a member of the Eagles. According to his recollection, he could tell they were disfunctional after his second day in the studio with them.

Finished a whole bunch again, currently working on:

Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons
Book 5 of the Swords series by Fritz Leiber
A poorly digitized book of Einstein's (that has no title -- I'm assuming it's his clear writing on Relativity)
Phases of Gravity by Dan Simmons
And the SQL 2005 Bible.

Yay
