Congratulations to my NIU Huskies for breaking the BCS! Now it's time to show those elitist talking heads that you belong!

If they beat FSU, ESPN should have a special broadcast of Kirk Herbstreit eating a big plate of crow.

Only one bowl game matters and NIU isn't in it.
Say what you will about the old bowl system, but at least back then multiple teams in multiple bowl games could still make an argument, depending on results, that they deserved to be national champs.
With this format only two teams can make that claim and every other bowl game is rendered completely meaningless (other than lining each school's pockets).

Limit teams to 12 game regular seasons, including conference championship game.
Follow that with a 64 team tourney seeded by BCS ranking system, voters, whatever.
Use the existing bowl venues and sponsors for sites. Rotate the big seven bowls among the quarters, semis and finals every year,
6 rounds over 7 weeks starting second week of Dec, off for the week of Christmas.
Championship game on Sunday of the week between NFL conf. champ. games and Superbowl.

What the heck is so hard about that?
Instead of two lesser bowl teams going to games like the Humanitarian Bowl (there's no way in hell I'm ever calling it the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl... oh, wait...rats...) they would have one of those teams replaced with somebody highly ranked like Alabama or Florida. I think #3 against #62 would bring a lot more interest and money than #58 against #62.
But what do I know?

Not a bad idea. The one big drawback is the number of games the winning teams would end up playing. The top 2 teams would end up withan 18 game season and the concern is that that is too many. I cringe everytime I read an article about the NFL going to 18 game schedule. Maybe a 16 team playoff could be doable. That could keep the total number of games played to a more realistic number.

I actually like the the current system. The main thing I dont like about it is the number of Bowl games played. I cant say I spend much time watching a couple of 6-6 teams going at it. Under the current system probably 15 - 18 total Bowl games involving fairly decent teams shoudl be enough. But hey, what do I know either?? This is a guy who would like to see 14 game NFL seasons, 144 - 148 game MLB seasons, and 64 - 68 or so game NBA and NHL seasons too.

I think an eight game playoff would be doable, with the aforementioned 12 game limit.

I am enjoying the length of the current NHL season.
