The homsite BWW has PBR as one of the beer specials.

$2.50 for a 23 oz. draft.

Sounds like a road trip to me. Why don't you and CLRBER let the grandparents take care of the kids, and drive with me to upstate New York. You won't need to get a hotel, Helene will put you guys up. We can show you around, take you on the Utica Club tour, and we can drive down to Cooperstown. As you well know, that is where the Baseball Hall of Fame is, plus the Farmer's Museum is pretty good too. Yeah, I know this is probably a nutty idea, but sometimes nutty ideas turn out to be a lot of fun. :D

p.s. Utica Club is not the only regional beer to sample, while you are up there. There are several more that I think you might like.

p.p.s. If you like them, we can load the trunk up with cases of beer, and smuggle them back to Kentucky.

I will pencil it down. Right now finances are very tight, and Christmas is around the corner. I'll make the trip, as my father would say, when my rich uncle gets out of the poor house.

The only cost will be your time. Helene and I will take care of you guys, when it comes to dollars.. However, upstate New York in the winter time is probably not the best time to go there. Spring, summer, and fall are pretty much the only seasons that you want to make a trip up there. (That is unless you guys are big on skiing or snowmobiling. Ice skating and driveway shoveling are other fun pastimes up there in the winter.

p.s. You guys aren't avid hockey fans are you...? If so, the winter might not be all that bad for you.

The PBR thing has been weird around here lately. I've seen one (high end) restaurant selling it for $1.00 a can, and another (medium price) restaurant selling it for $4.00 a can. I can't figure out if it's still supposed to be horrible or not!

/still think it tastes horrible

I don't feel it tastes horrible. I think it is a getting-drunk beer. For me, there are beers that are to be savored, like anything Sam Adams makes, and there are beers I drink for the soul purpose of getting drunk. Miller Lite when I have the monkey, PBR if I don't but don't mind the calories, and Old Style Lite if I don't have the money and want a lite beer.

And any place that sells an American can for $4 earns the right to close its doors. That's about the right price for a Foster's Oil Can.

Next to some home made brew that some friends of mine made, the Hawaiian beer, Primo, is the worst beer I have ever tasted. Anyone ever tried it?

ICEMAN, tell me you're kidding... Nah, I ain't believing those are real beers. You just used you fancy computer tricks to make them up. However, if they ARE real, tell me where I can get them, and try them out.

All Buffalo Wild Wings will have this new beer Game Changer exclusively from Red Hook Brewery...I haven't tried yet but will do when I get back from Cincy...The tap handle looks like a TV romote.

The BWW beer is here.

Sticking with the Sa Adams IPA...$2.12 for 23 oz.

Trying to get the keg killed so the Flying Dog can be put on-line.

Tomorrow will mark the 7,000th anniversary of the invention of beer someplace in what we know today as Iran. Some of the grain that the tribe had gathered accidentally fermented in water, and some guy decided to drink the stuff. The rest is history. Go out, pick up a six-pack, and celebrate this important date...!

I might add that there are those, who believe that the brewing of beer was central to the creation of civilization. As the process improved, and required more people working as a team to turn out more tasty brew, civilization began. (Not joking.) Can anyone think of a better explanation...?

Though it came thousands of years later, here is the Alulu beer receipt. This records a purchase of "best" beer from a brewer, circa 2050 BC from the Sumerian city of Umma in Ancient Iraq.

Image

p.s. Dang, it would have been tough to collect these receipts to turn into your boss as travel and entertainment expenses.

Tis the season for Pumpkin Ales. Appalachian Brewing Company has a nice one. Southern Tier's tasted like butternut squash soup.
