Post subject:  Molson Brador
CTCOOK reminded me of this brand. Brador was one of the first higher alcohol content beers sold in Ontario in the late 1970's/early 80's. Originally it was imported from Quebec where it was an already established brand.

A pleasant 6.0% alcohol beverage. IIFC correctly, the malt taste is prominent. That was several years ago - Molson has tinkered with their formulas over the years.

It is still available at most retail outlets; howeer, I haven't seen it on offer at a bar or pub in many, many years. I was not aware that it was available in USA

Many great beers listed in this thread so far. I've had a few various Shiner beers which were really good. Kinda hard to find in my area. I was definitely digging the Yeungling on tap down in W. Virginia. I could, and did, sit and drink those all day :-) My "big three" as I like to call it for micro/craft brews are Sam Adams, Great Lakes, and Goose Island. So many great beers....so little time (and/or money).

LEFT HAND MILK STOUT

With my eyes closed, I could almost swear I'm sipping a delicious, milky iced-coffee beverage. This beer is seriously silky on the tongue, leaving behind a lingering creamy texture. It tastes like the best espresso you've ever had: strong and black with soft caramel flavors and a hint of burnt sugar. The hops provide just enough bitterness to balance all those crazy sweet malt flavors.

Best of the many Porters I tried lately is the Founders'.
Recent fave is the Sierra Nevada Summertime. A full-bodied, flavorful lager. Not fruity like many other summer offerings. Good.

A nice smokey flavor but not heavy at all.

And a half barrel of New Belgium Ranger IPA...

Very smooth. Not as hoppy as other IPAs I have tried.

That first beer you mentioned Ice, reminds me alot of Lienenkugel's Creamy Dark. A dark but very light stout. I'm sure the beer you got is very good too, especially coming out of that kick-ass kegerator you have there. :mrgreen:

Anyone ever try Victory Storm King Stout (Downingtown, PA)? It's the standard against which I judge all stouts, with its roast and coffee tones and far more hop than the standard stout. At around 9.2%, it rates the title Imperial Stout, and it ain't cheap, but to me, it's well worth the price. Before it was sold in Ohio, I'd make occasional beer runs to Erie, PA to get it.

Another good one if you don't mind breaking your wallet in half is Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale (Stone Brewing, San Diego). Word to the wise: Arrogant Bastard can live up to its name the next morning, and is best consumed at your eventual destination.

Now, when I go cheap and play The Price Is Right, my homesite sells 23 oz. Mooseheads for $2. No, that's not a typo or a promo, that's the price. If it weren't for tips, that's cheaper than I could drink Moosehead at home!

Like Tiamat I'm also a big fan of Great Lakes Brewing Co beers! In fact I had one of their Edmund Fitzgerald Porters with dinner tonight. :) I also enjoy most of the Sam Adams brews (not big on the Cranberry Lambic or Irish Red), and Goose Island. I also really like Lefthand Sawtooth Ale which is extremely hard to find in Northwest Ohio so usually if I'm somewhere that has it to purchase in 6pks I of course purchase some. If I need canned beer for some reason such as going to Nascar races I will drink Labatt Blue, but I also like the other Canadian beer Molson.

I couldn't agree more that life is to short to drink cheap beer!! :lol:

I love Arrogant Bastard!!! In fact I don't believe there is a bad brew from Stone Brewing. And yep, they are a little pricey but, well worth the indulgence. One of my first kegs purchased for my kegerator was Stone's Smoked Porter. Damn tasty!!! 8-)

If you can get it the Upland Maibock is really good. Have to really consider my beer purchases lately, many good choices.

I never would have thought this was possible but.....

there are two different unrelated breweries named "Flying Monkeys".

One is in KC and the other in Barrie Ontario.

Last night I tried some "Flying Monkeys Hoptical Illusion" from the Ontario outfit.

Typical American style IPA: Pours a clear copper amber with a thin white head. Flavours are light toffee with nice grapefruit and passionfruit character and a medium bitter finish. Very hoppy.

Pabst Blue Ribbon is still sold in the Chicago area in 16 oz. cans. We also have Schlitz again in long neck bottles. I am waiting for Blatz to make a come back.

I know that very few of you will ever be able to get Utica Club Beer, but it is pretty damn good. Better yet, they still will take you on a tour of their brewery in Utica, NY., and let you sample their brew, when the tour is through.

I've got their Shultz and Dooley steins, and a couple more.

Pabst is still sold in the St Louis area. But nationwide its needs a rebirth.

While I'm very fond of Arrogant Bastard IPA, the Oaked Arrogant Bastard loses some of the hoppiness I enjoy from their regular Arrogant Bastard.

Candidly, Stewart's Brewing puts out some extraordinary beers. It's worth a several hundred mile trip to visit there; they need to put a hotel up next door.

Sounds like a road trip to me. Why don't you and CLRBER let the grandparents take care of the kids, and drive with me to upstate New York. You won't need to get a hotel, Helene will put you guys up. We can show you around, take you on the Utica Club tour, and we can drive down to Cooperstown. As you well know, that is where the Baseball Hall of Fame is, plus the Farmer's Museum is pretty good too. Yeah, I know this is probably a nutty idea, but sometimes nutty ideas turn out to be a lot of fun. :D

p.s. Utica Club is not the only regional beer to sample, while you are up there. There are several more that I think you might like.

p.p.s. If you like them, we can load the trunk up with cases of beer, and smuggle them back to Kentucky. :lol:

I will pencil it down. Right now finances are very tight, and Christmas is around the corner. I'll make the trip, as my father would say, when my rich uncle gets out of the poor house.
