Hours upon hours of freezing rain is very dangerous even for the Northeast. I can just imagine what its like for the South. Hopefully everyone stayed home. Two weeks ago, I was expecting an important package from Atlanta. It arrived a day late. Today I'm also expecting an important package from Atlanta. But this time, the company learned and printed it from their California location instead of their Atlanta location. |

Atlanta is a relatively high elevation, very hilly city. I like at the top of Blackjack Mountain, elevation 1,270 feet. It's also heavily treed, called the "City in the Forest". A half an inch of ice or more, combined with 30-40 mph gusts, is gonna bring down a lot of branches, and related power losses. In Marietta here, they are calling for 3-6 inches of snow tonight after the freezing rain stops. SciFiles will have to go on without me ! |

I figure we'll hit 77 degrees sometime around ... June.  I don't know what is forecast for Atlanta, but after another snowstorm in Connecticut on Tuesday, we are expecting warmer weather, in the 40s by the end of the week, which for us will be a nice change. I figure that Atlantans will be able to say "good riddance" to winter at least for a while. -- RWM |

68 today in Atlanta, 72 tomorrow. We did have a 4.1 earthquake on the GA / SC border Friday that was felt here, 3.2 followed Sunday. |
