Once again, I find myself with an approaching "vacation" from the family. A couple of years ago, the wife/kids went with wife's parents on a ski trip, and I got to stay home for a week with four dogs, three cats, all the movies I wanted to watch and all the beer I could drink. This time, wife/kids/inlaws are going on spring break to Ft. Myers, and I will be home alone with 2 dogs, three cats, all the movies I can watch and all the beer I can drink.

Last time, in one day I saw The Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man 1 and 2, and the Avengers. Another day was dedicated to the Star Wars Six, and the rest of the week spent catching up on other miscellaneous movies. I know that over the past two years there are dozens of movies that I haven't seen and need to catch up on, but I'm going to open this thread for suggestions. The rental store near where I live keeps a good selection of current movies and does have some older ones too, and there's always on-line sources to download them.

So, the floor is open. I'm taking suggestions on movie theme days (like the avenger theme from last time). What movies have you seen over the past few years that I might have missed and need to see? I'm thinking one day could be "biographies" as I still haven't seen the Ray Charles movie of a while back. Another could be Oscar nominees, as I haven't yet seen Gravity. I'd like to do a historical drama theme, with movies similar to Patriot/Braveheart/Apollo 13/Alamo.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance

Bond, James Bond
Do the first five or six films in order. Just don't shake your beer or stir it for that matter.

My other suggestion would be a day of classic westerns.

If you enjoy war movies you could go for a WWII theme. The Band of Brothers is very good as is Saving Private Ryan, Enemy at the Gates, Where Eagles Dare, Kelly's Heroes, U-571 etc.

"Cowboys and Aliens". I love that movie. Abraham Lincoln. Great historical film.

I would also recommend Band of Brothers. Also, the new Lord of the Ring movies would be good.

Never saw Band of Brothers and really want to. If they don't have it I'll check with Cloudy.

LotR, seen it.....not sure if I will see it again (last movie was DEADLY slow for my taste)

Try Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. I hear that it's based on a true story.

YODA, if you haven't seen "Idiocracy" yet, you MUST...! Though this movie is an action comedy, it actually shows us where are culture is headed. Watch it, and not only do I think that you will love it, because it's funnier than shit, but you will also find it somewhat frightening as you realise that there is a lot of truth to it.

Here's the trailer:

Here's more of the movie:

And even more than more of the movie:
