I'm not real happy with the NCAA Basketball Tournament brackets and seeding. Both the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky have been placed in the Midwest bracket, which greatly reduces the possibility that the Blue Grass State will have another national champion, because if they both win their earlier games, one will knock the other out when they meet, leaving only one from the Blue Grass State to carry on.

This really kind of pisses me off.

I'm not happy with Michigan State getting a four seed after winning the Big Ten tournament either, but they've been seeded low and knocked off 1 seeds before...

I'm not happy with 29 threads on this. :D

And for what it's worth, it doesn't change the odds one iota.

BO, as you probalby know, I'm easily confused. I'm trying to understand "I'm not happy with 29 threads on this."

I'm also trying to understand "And for what it's worth, it doesn't change the odds one iota."

Anyway, go Cats and go Cards even though there is no way both of you can make it to the final four. :(

This statement is true, regardless of when during the tournament UK and L-ville could potentially meet. It makes no difference whether that game is the final, a round of 64 match, or something in between. One national champion, therefore a maximum of one Kentucky school that can claim it, and a guarantee that either the Cardinals or the Wildcats will lose at some point

I do agree the seeding is a little wonkier than usual. I believe Kansas should be a 1 and Virginia a 2, Louisville higher than 4, Saint Louis and UMass perhaps overrated . . . and three of the play-in games in one region? But there's no great scandal in the NCAA's rankings

Although I'm with you in rooting for the Wildcats. In fact, I'll even go so far as to guarantee that when Kentucky plays Kansas State, the Wildcats are a lock to win!

Well it's happened... :(

The University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville are going to face off early in the Midwest Regional. This is way too soon for these two teams to meet in the Big Dance. Only one of them will move on. This sucks, and the NCAA committee that filled the tournament brackets needs to be tarred and featherd, and ridden out of town on a rail down to Kentucky, where we will teach them something.

The Cats and the Cards should always be placed in brackets, where they could only meet in the Final Four, if they should be so lucky to get there.

Does anyone think that the NCAA Basketball Tournament committee would ever put Duke and the the University of North Carolina in the same bracket, where they would meet after they both won their first two games...? I don't think so...

I will add that the Midwest Region this year was strangely packed with more possible national championship teams than any of the other brackets. I am not alone with this thought, as I have read several smart basketball writers say the same thing, with the exception of using the words "strangely packed".

They can't. There are guidelines in place that prevent two teams from the same conference meeting that early in the tournament.

Kentucky had 10 losses this year. They earned an 8 seed. Louisville didn't have a strong non-conference performance and played in a weaker conference. They won't have that problem next year playing in the ACC, but they earned a 4 seed this year.

Both are playing at a championship caliber now, but all the games count. You can't seed a team solely based on how they look heading into the tournament.

Is there anyway both teams can lose?

Funny, I didn't hear any complaining about Ohio State and Dayton facing off in the round of 64.

I'll be rooting for the Cards too, but the Cats have beaten the Cards already this season, and Kentucky probably has more talented players than Louisville. Worse yet it looks like Kentucky's young players have started to gel as a team. Louisville will have to make a hight percentage of their shots, have very few turnovers, and make most of their free throws, if they don't want their season to end tomorrow night.

Either way it turns out, I won't be happy that I will only have one team to root for after tomorrow night's game.

I'm rooting for the Cats now. They've come a long way to make it to the Final Four, that few expected, and I hope they keep on the roll that they are on.

What really annoys me are University of Louisville fans, who can't get over the loss to the University of Kentucky, and are calling into radio stations talking the Cats down.

Until they get eliminated, for me it will be:

For me it's the Cats or nothing. If Wiscaansin beats Kentucky, I probably won't even watch the Championship game.

p.s. Kentucky is a Vegas underdog going into the game. I like that...

What an unlikely two playing for the NCAA National Basketball Championship tomorrow night. However the game turns out, they will set a record for the lowest seeds to both get the championship game. I also believe that this will be the first time that two teams that were not even at the Big Dance the previous year, will be playing for the championship.

I hate to say this, because I fear that I will jinx them, but I think the Cats will be cutting the nets down tomorrow. They survived what was unquestionably the toughest bracket, and found a way to beat Wisconsin, a team that was arguably the best basketball team in the country. I don't think Kentucky is the best basketball team in the country, but they are on a roll...

I think this definitely happened in 1939.

I really thought that UConn was going to be a one-and-out team this year, especially being ranked eighth. How many times in the NCAA does #9 beat #8? It wouldn't even have qualified as being an upset.

Great game tonight, and Kentucky is always a top opponent no matter how highly they are ranked. Congratulations to the UConn Huskies, and to their fans. :) Also, congratulations to Kevin Ollie, winning the national championship in his second season as coach.

Pretty funny, 1939 was the first year the NCAA had a basketball championship. None of the teams could have been in the tournament the previous year.
