This one hurts so much, even though I knew after he was diagnosed with COPD that it was coming. Leonard was my first celebrity crush after my cousins introduced me to "Star Trek" the summer after I was in fifth grade (the rerun of its first season--my introductory episode was "Miri"). I was privileged to meet him in person several times, the first few in connection with his appearing in "Visitor from a Small Planet" at the Pheasant Run Theatre in my hometown of St. Charles; and the second when he walked out to the parking lot with my mother and me in conjunction with a George McGovern spaghetti supper fund-raiser in Aurora, Illinois. I used to play his albums over and over again, and will have the song "Highly Illogical" in my head forever. I also followed him every step of his career, and so enjoyed his appearances on "Fringe."

I am sure he lives forever, and is prospering on the other side.

I only read a few of the Discworld series, but Johanna, a friend of mine, was a huge fan, and used to go to the Discworld conventions. If they have cons on the other side, I'm sure she'll be the first one there to greet the guest of honor.
