That is so sad. He was my first DJ. When I was growing up in the Chicago suburbs I started listening to the radio when I was in fifth grade, and his quickly became my favorite show, one I made an effort to listen to.

Some of the various first songs are learned were Pete's as when I was just a few years old and my parents were getting their masters' degrees at the University of Colorado, the students sat outside my bedroom window and sang "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" and "If I Had a Hammer". I've been to a number of folk musician concerts, but there was something so special about Pete's--I've never seen anyone have such a complete connection with an audience.
