Singer Meat Loaf (fka Marvin Lee Aday, 74: https://www.npr.org/2022/01/21/10746639 ... -loaf-dead

Although this article doesn't list a COD, elsewhere it's reported that earlier this week he was diagnosed with COVID.

In combination with composer Jim Steinman he left us many memorable songs. My daughter and I enjoyed being among the first audiences to see the musical "Bat Out of Hell" after its London premiere. (It answered the question of what the "that" is that the person who "would do anything for love" won't in fact do.)

This is also of course the second loss to us "Rocky Horror Picture Show" fans following Charles Gray's passing over 20 years ago.

Actually, he won the 1968 Masters when Roberto De Vincenzo signed an incorrect scorecard.

Quite right. I had meant to edit this comment but forgot. Thanks.

I followed his career from his debut in "Altered States." Very sad to lose him.

I very much enjoyed his work in all of the films in which he appeared, not just "Goodfellas."

I will have to look up his "Star Trek" appearances, but I remember him bringing a lot to the role of the villainous President Logan in "24."

Star Trek actress Nichelle Nichols, 89: https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/31/entertai ... index.html

In the Q & A Walter Koenig did on the Star Trek cruise last March he talked about how Nichelle had fallen on hard times as a combination of suffering from Alzheimer's and being victimized by a financial manager who took advantage of her situation. Her friends and family did rally around her so that she would be comfortable until the end, but she had lost the ability to speak with them. I'm glad I was able to see her in person when she was a GoH at a small Houston-area con back in the 1990s.
