One of our players died today. Over the years she played as DORY, ROJIAN and LILITH; changing names as she realized she didn't have to use her real name. I remember meeting her twelve or thirteen years ago when Chef Fred's first got Buzztime. She told me she was glad there was someone to give her a challenge. She was never really a challenge. In all honesty, she was one of the most annoying people I've ever met, but she played with us for a dozen years, inviting herself to different venues (one time following us when we snuck out of the bar), providing transportation on occasion, anything to be one of the gang. She could sandbag, holler out wrong answers with certainty and cause scenes that had nothing to do with the game, better than anyone I know. Anything you've done, she did first and better. If she had done everything she claimed, she had to have been about 645 years old. We haven't played with her in a couple of months because we wanted to get in a few games at the new bar without the distraction before we told her they were open. I was gonna tell her tomorrow. The last game we played she beat me like a rented mule and got number one on the local board (maybe a first). So I'm going out to light a fire, drink Scotch and listen to Tom Lehrer in her memory.
