I got a text from TRIPOD/Paul yesterday informing me that BONZO from Bargo's died of a heart attack Sunday night. I think Paul stated that he was only 39 yeaars young. Don't know any other details.

I spent a lot of time w/BONZO & Patti at this year's Triviapalooza and he was a great guy and strong player.

Condolences to his family and friends & the Cincinnati area players, as BT has lost another good dude.

BTW--Scaratings birthday goes out to CAVMAN/Larry, who lost his battle with cancer a few years back. He made it the Buckhannon, WVBTO.

RIP, gentlemen

Thanks for passing on the news, TIEFLY, and sincerest sympathies to the Cincinnati-area player community.

We were fortunate enough to have CAVMAN visit us when we were playing at Damon's-Stow. What a great guy, and sorely-missed.

BONZO/Tom was one of the gentle giants of the game. He was a wonderful person and great trivia player. We will miss him dearly.

Oh my god that is terrible news. Sincere condolences to Patti and all of the Bargos crew from all of us at BWW Gaithersburg.
We meet him at the Maryland bash in July.

Just unbelievable.

Holy Moses. So terrible to read this.

Yes, he was a very fine player. We played a solid Saturday afternoon together several palooza's ago in Dayton and I was quite impressed, and certainly enjoyed his company. We were analyzing box numbers above 40 and how you couldn't get a 1,000 once 60 boxes were logged on, or some such foolishness.

Caught up with him again at BargoPaloozas and had some amiable chats and good scores.

My heart goes out to the fine Cincy folks who him knew him well.

Just terrible news. As good as a player as you'll ever meet but also one of the most humble players out there. He was quiet but had a great sense of humor and I had many great times playing with him at Bargos and other spots.

Tom/BONZO's last game was the 4:30 pm EST Countdown game last Saturday. Five of us were playing at Milano's 741, and Tom was the only one to have a perfect score after the first 10 questions. The group was engaged in a lively discussion over the last break and, uncharacteristically, none of us saw question 11 pop up. Zeroes all the way around.

Tom finished the rest of the set with thousands and registered a 14,000. I'm sure he would have ended with a perfect 15,000 had our group been more attentive to the game, and less attentive to each other in conversation.

Maybe it was a fitting end, and symbolic of what made Tom special. He was intelligent, an excellent player, engaging, and someone you could converse with and easily lose track of time. He will be missed.

Tiefly, sorry for your loss. It's sad to lose some good players and friends. I've lost a bunch of friends in the month of December alone. Went to two funerals in one weekend before Christmas for two guys that were only 49 and 54, not trivia players but great friends.

It was a pleasure to play with BONZO/Tom at TriviaPalooza in 2012 and 2013....He will be missed and another void for this year's event back in Cincy

From texting w/Patti, it took a LOT of work before BT agreed to make Tom the POTW.

Thank you BGTUNA! "Fitting" "indeed" to quote Tom/BONZO.
