GIRLIE from Tampa reported on BadBart:

“I just found out that Sid Crawford (BLUMAX) passed away on July 12th. He was a member of the Bilmar Station team for many years and lived in the Tampa area. Very sad news.”

BLUMAX was also BLZBUB's relief in posting Showdown recaps. A true star, in my trivia heaven.

Played with Sid for a number of years.
Just last night I had occasion to use his signature phrase, applied to any question deemed too simple for the context:
"Trivia please!"

A good man.

We had the honor of hosting BLUMAX, he was obviously a great trivia player but more importantly a good man and a lot of fun. He will be missed.

Opiee and I are also sad to learn of Sid's passing. He was a true ambassador for Buzztime trivia and a friend.

We 1st met Sid at different times before we even knew each other. He played at the End zone in Germantown MD and Muldoons in Gaithersburg and worked nearby for the DOE. He was quiet and reserved but would go out of his way when asked to join us for live pub trivia or BT at non home bars. He also traveled down to D.C., almost an hour away, to play SD at the Grand Slam for years.

After retiring he moved to the Clearwater area but still kept his MD house and car so we still saw him a few times a year at Hardtimes. Opiee and I also visited him a few times in FL as recent as 2015 for a long round of CD. He was in fine shape except for no night driving so I have no idea how he passed. He hadn't mentioned anything recently in emails but he was always reserved.

Condolences to all who knew him. He was truly a Buzztime Hall of Famer if there was one.
