Post subject:  BILL V

I met Bill V about 15 years ago at a small place called Diamond Lil's in Roselle IL (later Brewstir's, later Teddy B's, currently closed.) Before that, he was a regular at a place called the Chicago City Limits in Schaumburg. For the last several years, he played at the Chicago Loop in Streamwood. Other than trivia and schmoozing at the bar, I think what Bill V most enjoyed was going to plays in and around Chicago. Many friends accompanied him to a lot of area theaters over the years.

Bill V was a very good trivia player, and spent a lot of time at it over the years, leaving with 60,384,000 PP points as of his last game on November 16th. It will be strange and sad to play trivia without seeing Bill V's name on the board. I will miss him.

Goodbye, Bill V.

Hey Botanist, sorry to hear the bad news. Condolences to his friends and family around Illinois.

He sounds like my kind of guy, playing trivia and schmoozing at the bar. Sounds like a full day right there.
But instead of the theater I would tend toward anything concerned with automobile racing or baseball. Been to many of those events with our buzztime friends.

I remember seeing Diamond Lils, Brewstirs and Teddy Bs a lot. As well as The Loop to this day.

Now if you can just do something about Richek/Spidey all would be good in your neck of the woods.

Farewell Bill V.

Bill V. was always at the top of the stats in the Buzztime bars that I frequented.
I only knew Bill since 2012. When I went to other bars, I would look for the one top player & would call them the "Bill V of (insert bar name)".
Going to miss the friendly competition, though usually I wasn't up to Bill's standards.

Bill V. won his battle with life, and passed from this world on December 2, 2020.

During his ntn career Bill amassed a total of 60,384,000 player plus points, although he probably would have gotten into heaven even without these, due to the type of person that he was. I first met Bill about 15 years ago, playing ntn trivia, at a bar in Roselle,IL, called Diamond Lil’s. He really was a wonderful person. His biggest fault was probably thinking too much about other people, and not enough about himself. He was always buying drinks, and giving away theater tickets. The first play I ever went to was at Drury Lane, with Bill supplying the tickets.

Besides playing trivia and drinking, the other activity Bill enjoyed the most was schmoozing the young women at the bar (and the middle aged women, and the older women). He was always taking them out on dates, and lavishing gifts upon them. He was also a very generous tipper.

Yes, Bill V. thoroughly enjoyed being Bill V., and until the last couple years, he was actually pretty good at it.

He will be missed. In a reference that will only be appreciated by the old-time Diamond Lil’s trivia players, he is now, along with Yoyo, living in Chicago.

Excellent obits!

RIP Bill V. I remember he was always the central guy at the bar at Diamond Lil's.

Thanks for the comments on Bill V, I always appreciate reading them.

Certainly sounds like the type of person that made me such a Buzztime fan. Condolences to all who knew him.

This picture is from Diamond Lil's, from around ten years ago. What a motley-looking crew! BILL V is in the center at the back. The lady in front was a Buzztime rep, and on this occasion she was hosting a party for us. About half of the people in the picture are still regular players: TAZMAN (left), REB/BGDOG (behind rep), BOTNST/PZN IV (between rep and trophy), SIDAVE (behind trophy), and MERKIN/BOBO (back row, green shirt). Good times.

Thanks for the pic. About 2 years before RAY J joined the motley crew.
