New Scaratings

As you probably noticed Scar has been down for about 10 days. Thanks to a group of players we have brought the site back online.

Scott helped get the back up files and site restored after much trouble and with the financial help from Merkin, Prozac, PerryS in Houston and myself we are back! Thank you all for the help and we’ll see where we are in a year. Anon is also in the process of helping out with $ too. We could still use a little more help so I don’t have too much to absorb.

Scott is done with the hassle of the hosting company (Ipower) and he will be turning over the admin of the site to myself, my wife Opiee and Merkin going forward. Hopefully the 3 of us can do what Scott did very well by himself for the last 20 years.

All looks good going forward......till the server has trouble.

A Mass email was sent to Everyone that belongs to Scaratings to let them know Scar is back online. Maybe some old names will return.
If that email didn't get to you please mention that here, it may end up in spam filters.

Hey Whales, it looks like I did not get the email either, nor did Merkin. The mass email must have been blocked at some point. Maybe the hosting company, I don't know. So much for letting everyone know Scar is back and the McCarthy Cup is back.

It seems email notifications of PMs are not being sent out by the Scaratings site. I have received several PMs but didn’t know they were here waiting for me. Merkin and Anon have confirmed the same.

Has anyone received PM email notifications since March? They did usually end up in my spam but I would get them previously.

Anyway, be sure to look for “New Messages” up top when you are on here. I’m not having any luck finding the area in the Administration section to set the notifications that used to come from Scott’s email and now should come from my Rush email address. Who knows??

I have found a hidden area (unknown to me till today) of the Admin area of Scaratings. It was a list of inactive users who were also all newly registered users over the last year. I guess an activation step I needed to take after they registered. I have now activated all of them, about 25. I will check this area regularly.

So if you are now able to read or post on Scar sorry for the delay. One new user was from Egames. Hi Aram!! or someone else from Egames?

Still no luck figuring out why new PM notifications are not being sent to the recipient's email address. So check for incoming PMs on a regular basis.

Bump......just a reminder to everyone on Scar. Check for new PMs here on a regular basis, the notifications are still not going out to your email address that there is a new PM for you. Don't know where to fix this, I've looked all through the admin area.

Knock on wood there have been no hosting outages with I Power since Feb.

Well we were down for a few days. I renewed the Scaratings hosting on Friday and it stopped working. Great.

Just got it figured out after chatting with India for 30 mins. It was in the default version of php. We are on 5.3 which is a bit old. The renewal somehow put scar on a newer default version causing a 500 error code.

Most of you probably didn’t even know scar was down because of infrequent visits.

Now, who would like to pitch in a little of the renewal fee. The last time I asked for donations was 2 years ago. Anybody able to do $10 or $20?
