I posted elsewhere that the Scaratings site was supposed to be for fun, about Buzztime trivia, and that some of you have made it into something else, and that is unfortunate.

So, as we said at the beginning it was up as a service to the Buzztime community and if it became a headache it would be history.

So Scaratings has seen it's end of days.

I'd like to thank Dante for going above and beyond... as those of you who have met him know he is one of the finest persons I've ever known. He devoted time and effort to something I created then I couldn't technically administer over time as the world got more complicated.

Dante will post about the end planning.

What I would request is that under the time we have left available that posts be of a positive, and appreciative nature, and let's just not post the crap.

Thanks

Scar

EGADS!!!

Well, thanks Scott & Dante, for helping me escape the grind of the work day since the BT site shut down. I'm not sure what prompted this, but I HATE those that caused this decision (that's a joke, btw).

I'm not sure how to contact most of you, but I hope y'all do well in whatever y'all are doing.

At least it's hockey season, and I can hop over to the Penguins' website to assuage some of my work place angst.

I had fun. See y'all on the boards.

It is indeed sad news that a few can cause the loss for so many. I understand, though, and thank Scar and Dante for all their hard work.

P.S. What will Cloudy do until 1am?

P.P.P.S. What will Cloudy do until 3am?

I am extremely sorry to hear about this, not only because I personally have enjoyed the service, but also because it has been one of the best ways to organize and pass on information about tournaments. Is it at all possible to keep at least the Sandbag thread up until the end of the tournament?

I'll post a bit more on this later, but just for everyone who may be wondering:

1) No matter what, the boards are not going to disappear. For those of you who want to "collect your posts," I will give you an opportunity to do so.

2) I'm going out of my way to make sure people who had nothing to do with the real problems are not punished. I am going to work with people running tournaments, etc., to make sure things are still accessible there, if not for forever, then at least for a good while.

3) There is a chance the boards may not go away entirely, but will be altered significantly. Scar and I are still discussing this.

4) Handing over the reins to another user is not really an option. We tried this before, but it really didn't work, and the board ended up being literally dangerous to visit (not the person's fault), due to malware and viruses. I am also concerned that if it's left in that state, eventually peoples' personal information, including e-mail addresses, would get stolen.

5) My metaphorical gloves are off at this point. If you do something to be a dick (see original main rule) from the moment after I hit submit on this post, you are gone. You can whine and send your messages to other people and get people to call my cell phone and try to get people to approach me in bars (yes, people do this), and it isn't going to change it.

6) No one person is the cause of this, so please do not blame anyone individually. The people who told me not to admit certain people to these boards due to the drama they would cause were correct. The irony of the fact that I am the one who decided to admit the very people who ended up being the most abusive, nasty, irritating, and intentionally destructive (to the environment of these boards, and towards me personally) is not lost on me. On the positive side, I at least know the same people cause the same problems everywhere they have ever been, and thus am not going to worry too much about whether we did anything to cause it. I had good intentions in trying to make this open to everyone, but the road to hell and all that. Additionally, PHPBB is a cumbersome environment, and wading through its depths to try to do things (especially upgrading it, given Scar's webhost are a bunch of ponces) isn't really worth it. My frustration comes as much with trying to juggle peoples' reports on posts (which are a pain in the arse to find), approving new members, helping people get their passwords reset, making sure the board doesn't crash (Scar's webhost, again, sucks. Not his fault, they just oversell their services, IMO).

7) Last, do not contact me outside of these boards about this. I have kept most of the BS about running this place to myself, and occasionally to Scar, but it's no longer going to interfere with my personal life, in which I have very little personal time, and I do not want to have to hang up on or be rude to people that I otherwise like.

Thanks,

Dante

Would like to thank both Scott and Adam for taking the time to keep it up. You did a great job.

I am not on all that much because I did not want to get into the same thing as over on the BT forum.

Just food for thought. How about getting rid of everything that is not related to BT. The area that you can do anything on any subject.

Well...that sucks. Agree with everyone else...thanks for all your efforts Scott and Dante. It was greatly appreciated. I knew this was the one place I could go and get my Buzztime Info fix. I'll miss the Showdown and Playback recaps...and interacting with TomD on incorrect questions. And what will I do now to get my early AM Cloudy posts? I'm getting the shakes right now just thinking about the withdrawals

Unfortunate news this is. Thanks for your time and effort, guys. For getting real Buzztime information, this BB is a great source for all, whether lurkers or top posters. Anyone who's gone to the BT Facebook, Twitter or Blog pages can tell you that those are pretty much useless, unless you have a "Players+ Points" question.

Perhaps a suggestion. Closing just the "free for all" section, but leave everything else that is truly Buzztime related active.

The problems are not segregated to Free for All, or I would have already done that.

Thanks Scott and Adam, you guys went above and beyond. I'm sorry to see Scaratings die, but I completely understand why you are closing it. Fortunately, I'll still be able to keep up with the people I truly like and enjoy on Facebook.

Sad to hear.

For old time's sake, in the last 24 hours of the site could I have one last Bo Fodder?

Where can I find how many P+ points we get in each games? I didn't get credit on my cards for a game I played last night. Playing more than one box is cheating.

New rank seems to work fine! 8-)

Who cares? Let douche bags be douche bags to each other, and the rest of us can discuss trivia. :D

We are discussing this currently. Will let you know. Like I said, the board isn't going to disappear tomorrow.

Just interview Wheelie instead. You can offer him some nice perks: low pay (none), countless hours of thankless work...and a nice hammer

Could you just ban the people you're talking about? I'm assuming it's about the political threads, but I tend not to read them.

Not just the politics threads. I deal with a lot of shit in the background that rarely makes it to open forum. As I said, we're debating different options. Will let you know. Past my time limit for Scaratings today, will follow up tomorrow.

Read a few of the threads that I assume you are talking about... don't blame you for not wanting to deal with that bullshit. If for whatever reason you decide to keep Scaratings afloat, ban anyone who doesn't follow your warnings and get rid of all the non-Buzztime related topics.

Thank you for the efforts you've put into this site over the last few years.

I would very much hate to see Scaratings come to an end, but I do understand the rationale if things have deteriorated beyond control, and/or if it simply becomes more work than it's worth to the administrators.

I am not one for Fakebook, so I do rely on this board to keep track of all things Buzztime. Plus, I do have to admit I have developed an affinity for the intellectual and well thought out postings of Spotes, the typically spot on, ascerbic Buzztime knowledge and observations of BO, the blunt honesty of Lewser, etc. Would hate to see all that come to an end, but totally understand if thats the way it has to be.

Hopefully there will be a way to retain the Board in some way shape or form that will continue to be informative and entertaining to the regular visitors, and also realistically workable to the administrators without putting them through so much stress. Thanks for all your hard work and efforts guys

Thanks TCH. I wonder how much Earl Scheib would've charged to gild that lily? :D

While I have no doubts that running this website is an enormous pain in the patootie, I believe that it is a worthwhile venture. Of course, it's not my time, effort, or patootie, so that's easy for me to say.
I have to echo TCHCNB's sentiments. This website promotes community through common interest. Having already been orphaned by NTN's website, it would be disheartening to lose yet another outlet for expressing that interest, among others.
Sure, there are always other things to do and places to go on the internet. But this one has become the veritable "comfortable pair of old shoes" for vagrom-souled trivialists. We could be wasting our time on a myriad number of sites. But we prefer wasting it here. :D

Your site, your call.
But I know I'd miss it.
And approximately 91.4% of the people on it...Image

$99 Spotes! Any color you want! Now I'm nostalgic for the GREAT pitchman's work during the commercial breaks in AWA Wrestling...
