Dante and I have been collaborating about the future of Scaratings, and in all fairness I thought I would ask the membership a couple of things.

From my perspective (didn't discuss this exactly with Dante), what turns me off is a lack of politeness in some quarters.

And once again only from my perspective, aside from the occasional catty remark that may just be personal perception, this isn't really indicative of the membership taken as a whole.

So a very small minority takes away some of my enjoyment from the whole thing.

Now, with absolutely no personal attacks or even references to an individual, please, I'd like some feedback.

Do y'all in general feel the same ?

What do you think should be done ?

Is it just the nature of forums, a cross section of humanity ?

Thanks

Scar

The fact is, nobody is polite all of the time. There will always be differences, otherwise we'd all be clones of one another.

Seeing as how you guys are in the process of eliminating most discussions outside of BT, that will eliminate many of the differences, so nothing more needs to be said along those lines.

We all love BT, but it's natural we'll have opposite opinions about some things such as game content, references, mobile playmakers, etc. And for the most part, those discussions are civil. Are there times where it gets a little rough? Sure. But we're all adults here, we can all take a bloody nose once in a while. People don't need to PM you or Dante every time somebody says something negative towards somebody.

As long as we all aren't overly aggressive or overly sensitive, I see no reason why we can't discuss BT trivia. But it's your operation, in the end you can do what you wish for any reason, and I think we all understand that.

I personally have tried to be nicer here than on BT's site. I know I can make snide remarks and say things that people don't agree with. That is who I am, but there is never confusion on where I stand on anything. Some may not like my stance, but it is clear. Like they said in the movie, Sleepers, "No politics or religion." I stayed away from those discussions for a reason, they cause nothing but problems. Many of the things that have been said around here in the political forums, in particular, those folks wouldn't have the balls to say to anyone in person. I am here to discuss and read about BT trivia, or trivia in general. I should be the last person to comment about etiquette, so I won't, but on the other hand some were just being nasty. Again, they wouldn't say that kind of crap in person.

There are a few people around here I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire (I'm sure the feeling is mutual), and that is just the way it is. Anybody can rub someone else the wrong way, just the way it goes sometimes.

Whatever you guys decide, it is all up to you. I would like a return to actually discussing trivia stuff.

You have been "nicer" for sure, and I personally appreciate it. I agree with your sentiments, as well.

Humanity as a whole has always sought fresh and inventive ways to anger itself.

Just my little opinion.

Remember the ole saying: In vino, forumtrash.

Bobby, i agree that the purpose this site is talk of everything Buzztime and talk about traveling to Buzztime sites. Maybe someone can set up a seperats sit for the free-for-alls noton facebook or yahoo.

He has turned into a Facebooking, baby kissing, wimp. I'm expecting a Tweet from him any day telling me about a "wonderful" sale on Hallmark keepsakes.

BO chastise him for doing so. BO will NEVER do either of then. He needs to keep his edge in St Louis this winter,

Given the level of discussion in some threads, I'd say that already exists: They're called DailyKos and FreeRepublic. :)

I find this board very helpful for Buzztime information and for setting up bashes and tournaments.

A few people have now killed two Buzztime discussion boards. It is human nature to sometimes be annoying, but a few folks I've seen here and on the old BT site are more so than on any iother posting board I've ever belonged to.

If there is any chance of continuing this site, I think getting rid of the open subforum is a no-brainer. I'm sure there would still be crap going on, but hopefully at a more manageable level.

I hope you decide to keep the site up and running. This is where I get my BT fix. Very few people play at my site or understand how BT works, so there isn't much discussing going on there.

I read the political threads sometimes, but just like in a drinking setting, I will not get involved with the discussion.

Overall, I believe there has been much more "good" happen through this site than 'bad'.

Whatever y'all decide, you won't catch any crap from me. I was just happy to have a place to discuss BT trivia other than Facebook...which I tend to avoid.

If Scaratings goes away, my BT fix will go back to getting midget porn texts from TOLLE & GOBLUE on Friday afternoons.

It's pretty simple. Lock down the threads that are likely to get someone's dander up, and don't allow new threads that could lead to more heated exchanges between people, who normally get along with each other. The fact of the matter is, if the "ScaRatings" allows political threads, some of us (including myself) are likely to get into it with each other, especially after a few brewskis. Eliminate political threads, and I doubt this will be a problem going forward.

We all seem to get along and respect each other on non-controversial threads. I say keep the "ScaRatings" going, and let everyone continue to have fun sharing thoughts and ideas with each other. Yeah, you will see good natured kidding on ICEMAN's "Ban the Person Above You" and "Post Baseless Lies About the Person Above You" threads. However, I don't think anyone takes the posts to those threads seriously, and both threads have never gone beyond just silly joshing with each other. If you have a month with nothing to do, read all of the posts on those threads, and I think you will agree that they are harmless, and no one ever is offended by what is posted on them. They're funny, and everybody knows it.

p.s. I've seen some of the threads that have already been locked, and I think you have done the right thing.

p.p.s. I'm done with posting controversial stuff on the "ScaRatings". If by accident I ever violate this, give me one warning, and if I do it again kick me out. I would consider that fair.

Join me in singing this tune:

NO...! NO...! NO...!

That was before my epiphany. I have learned my lesson. I am now a new man. Last weekend I went to a brotherly love sit-in, sat in the rain, and fasted to atone for my sins of the past. I know that you are all powerful, but somewhere in your heart you must have some compassion for sinners, who have repented, and have changed their ways.

p.s. I have also volunteered to do 60 hours of community service to help nasty computer posting addicts break their habit.

p.p.s. I looked for you in the "Kumbaya" concert audience, but didn't see you. Come on and sing along with us...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX6233Nig18

(After the concert, we had a vegetarian cookout, you should have been there. I'll let you know when the next cookout is coming up. Hope you can make it.)

The site is not ending. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. We are acting on some of them. I will try to address this by the second week of October.

In response to a PM question I got, no, no one has been banned from the site.

Great news, Dante, I just found out when the next vegetarian, Kumbaya cookout is going to be. It will be on January 15, 2012. Where...? Frostbite Falls, Minnesota. Rocky and Bullwinkle will probably be there, and signing autographs. It might be a little chilly, so be sure to bring a jacket with you.

Other things you might want to bring would be a nice tofu dish, and a bag of marshmallows.

How many tickets do you want?

p.s. The tickets cost a lttle bit much, but a portion of the money goes to the "Save the Darter Fish Fund".
