or the cards, anyway :o

I don't think I ever got past Card 6 myself, but I still think this is probably a really bad decision on buzztime's part. These cards really drove up player participation. It'll be interesting to see how much the game play drops off now, unless this "exciting" replacement is something better (somehow I doubt it).

Out with the old, in with the new!

In order to make room for the new and exciting, we have to graciously say thank you and goodbye to the old. It was a fun and great ride, but at the end of 2011 we bid farewell to the Player Reward Card. The New Year will bring something very exciting to The Buzztime Nation!

I'm sure it has something to do with social media or some type of app.

Yee-fricking-ha.

I actually thought it was a good idea, and was actually implemented well.

So BT cans it.

Can't say I am not surprised though. If it is replaced with some social media thing, I will remain gracefully ignorant of it.

The New Year is around the corner! It's that time of year where we say goodbye to some things and hello to others. A New Year brings new ideas, new dreams, and new goals. In order to make room for the new and exciting, you have to graciously say thank you and goodbye to the old.

We know it was fun and it was a great ride, but at the end of this year we will be saying thank you and goodbye to the Player Reward Card. (moment of silence)

As I said, the only way to make room for the new and exciting is to let go of the old, and boy, oh, boy, do we have something extremely exciting in store for Buzztime Nation next year and beyond! (moment of rejoice)

We value every member of Buzztime Nation, and what we have in store for you next year will take the Buzztime experience to another level.

Curious? Good! (pssst....Check out your player profile in January if you want a hint.)

Until next time...Good luck and good fun!

According the picture at the link, it might be the chance to win cars? VWs? That would certainly be welcome.

http://www.buzztime.com/blog-trivia/895 ... e-new.html

Although, maybe only cars registered in the EuroZone. Odd picture choice.

But I will chime in that I LOVED the cards and thought it was the best thing that BT did to drive player participation. It certainly got me playing all sorts of games I never would have played otherwise. And I managed to win one of the $500 cards at a time when I really, really needed it.

I'm guessing the picture is the blend of old and new. Personally, I think they found a way to elimitate using the smart phone playmaker app to get player plus points.

I tremble every time the Buzzies announce that something we know works will be replaced by "something better, that we'll all love!" If I recall, that was the basic pitch before Black August, as well.

Dang it, you're probably right. Silly me for thinking it was going to be something actually better. Sigh.

Scar you were the one that came up the card promotion idea long before Buzztime used
it. I was thinking they stole your idea. Guess I don't have to watch Dante and Cracklehead
try and fill out their cards anymore.

I believe so, Glen. You, FLY and most of you guys in the ole NTN fourm told me about all the P+ Points rewarded in order to exchange em for a car.

I take the points since I don't drive. LMAO

The BT cards promotion did get me into playing on nights of the week (especially Friday and Saturday) where I would not have normally played trivia. And it probably did that for many NTN gamers. I don't know what promotion will be in store for 2012, although I suspect rather strongly that I may be strictly a mid-week (Tuesday through Thursday) player.

Still, I'm curious about the upcoming year.

I participated in this fairly heavily and it greatly increased my participation. I expect to become mostly a Tuesday-Thursday night player now.

I really wasn't all that enthused about this promotion and won't miss it all that much.

I proposed several "frequent player programs"; the cards promotion they came up with suprised me with how well implemented it was.

Being the sports fan that I was, I didn't appreciate the short shrift STC and SIQ got, but oh well.....

The cards did get me out more often than I would have. I always play Tuesday nights and fairly often on Wednesday and/or Thursday. I started to play on Fridays and Saturdays and more often on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I did not play the cards for the points. I played for the prizes. I did win some BT Swag but nothing big. This last set of cards I lost interest, so maybe BT might be doing the right thing in changing promotions.

Just two days until the big surprise is revealed. I'd wager they are merging the online and bar games so we can earn badges and they can get players plus points and bar rankings. Oh, and they will announce an app for the new windows phones.

When the cards were first introduced, I found that I increased my game play - especially on non-regular game nights. Eventually my interest dwindled to nearly non-existent

I admit to some curiousity about the new year's plans as well..but I fully expect to be underwhelmed.

As for badges...I don't need no stinking badges. When I play the FB game about once a week, I always skip them anyways

one last thing..just because BT said there would be a new promotion replacing the cards next year, I wouldn't hold my breath expecting the big unveiling to actually happen on Jan 1 or even Jan 2

As of 4PM EST, there is a new logo of a question mark where the card used to be on your profile. The tab for the cards promotion doesn't exists anymore either.

Time to start a new section under the Buzztime Promotions section?

I figure when it comes they will let us know. Until then, I'm not playing their silly games.

I asked them on Twitter when they didn't respond in one of the blogs...they said it will be announced in a couple of weeks.
