For once, I remembered to write down my progress through the game :o First off...congrats to Bo and his crew at Stadium Cafe last night on a great victory! Including the Countdown games afterwards, Bo had quite the night 8-) Spotes and the 86th St. Pub had a great game as well. Usual suspects were up there also...Hunk, Clavin, Blujys (sp) and locations BWW Dayton, JP Shakers. Nice game all!

STATS and I played at JF Kicks last night. First round, he and I split on the Rocky Graziano Middleweight/Heavyweight question. He went middleweight, and I read it as Rocky Marciano...so I went with heavyweight. 27/30. Picture round...Fran Tarkenton picture got us as we started out on Unitas...STATS switched to Fran almost as time ran out. We missed the team Cruz broke in with (Brewers), as we were on the Padres. 20/30. Spelling round brought 43.2/50. Year round brought 27/40. Matching round bought 52/60 as there were two questions that we missed one on...I know one was the horse racing question, but forget the other one we missed. Total of 169.2, with STATS at 171.5, good enough for a top 10 bar ranking...

What questions tripped people up?

Obviously everyone in the east cheated, as they played a repeat game.

Fun game! My best years round in a long time is what propelled me. Stumbled a little in Spelling Round. (I hate those baseball spring training site questions!!). ALso couldnt get Ohio Valley Conference very quickly

Round 1 30/30
Round 2 19.2
Round 3 42.8
Round 4 34/40
Round 5 52/60

Picture Round: Nelson Cruz 5.0 - missed followup. Lamar Odom 9.2. Fran T. 4.9 - went with 1970 for followup

Matching Round: first 4 all 12.0. Preakness question only 4.0

Thanks, Alex made a rare appearance walking in after the first round and made the difference.

Warm-up - perfect 30.0 all boxes.

And-1 - Tarkington for around 2.0, MVP year for 5.0, Cruz for 10.0(grand slam and Brewers), Odom for 10.0(6th man and Clippers). ~27.0 all boxes for the round, kind of funny that 2 of 3 Q's dealt with local players.

Spelling - 0 on Jeremy Evans, no excuses. ~4.0 on Boston Bruins, none of us had a clue until the letters gave it away. 4.0 on Zimmermann, just a brain fart. 4.0 on Ohio Valley, no excuses. 5.0 on Mahan, Singapore, Kenseth, Rangers, Durant, Kobe.

Years - 0 on 1971, no excuses, blanked on Pirates winning, didn't know Goolagong's major. (although didn't the clue say her only Wimbledon win when she also won in 1980?) Split 1988 and 89 on Dionne retires, Rice gave it away for 4.0. 4.0 on Rockets in 94, don't remember the first clue. 5.0 on Bears in 40, West in 60, Mattingly in 95, Bucs in 03, Longhorns in 06.

Matching - 60.0. HOOPS knew the 50's horse which then made it simple to put the rest together. NBA heights wasn't too bad, able to put the Pit numbers together, MLB rookies was no problem, MLS teams was no problem.

warmup for 30

Profiles - farted on Cruz for ~1.5, got brewers for about a 3-3.5. 10 for Odom (damn cheater and his damn cheatin college coach taking out Valpo in 1998 sweet 16, but i'm not bitter still) , 10 for Tarkenton (remembered Joe Capp was SBIV/1970)

Spelling - 5s on Mahan, Singapore, Kenseth, Rangers, Durant, Kobe, Ohio Valley, bout 2 on Zimmerman (couldn't remember first name :P ), 4.5ish on Bruins, bout 1-2 on Evans (Paul G got Stansbury-ed! )

Year - 5 on 1971, Mattingly 95, Bucs 03, West 60,
Messed up Bears 40 for about 1.5, messed up the Vince Young year as well. can't remember others but our best was around 32/40.

Got 54/60 on matching, reversed Nashua and Pine Bluff

Booth Tarkington was the 1975 NFL MVP?
I'm surprised I never ran across that stat...

Wow, that's embarrassing. And to think you got your clock cleaned by an idiot who can't spell.

At least I'm not totally clueless.

Ah yes, I said 93. Didn't think he won the U.S. Open in his rookie year, although that's a loose term when dealing with international players.

I noticed BT finally managed to get the repeat game asterisk off of the east coast feed players and sites for this game.
I also noticed that player scores from this game are not applying to their averages or showing in game play history.
If I'd have put up a 155 or so I bet it would have applied correctly from day one... :(

Well, why in tarnation couldn't they just add it to existing averages?
Now I have to wait another nine weeks to see if I'm any good at sports trivia. The suspense is killin' me...
