Back from vacation...and I think I should have stayed in Nashville. I went to go see my sister perform in an Elvis show last Monday...so I didn't make it out for SIQ last week. STATS and I met up at BWW Riverview figuring we'd take a stab at the Smartest Bar Six game (WTG Mezzanine!) also...but that proved fruitless too.

Round 1 27/30 as I talked STATS into going Erie over Reno on Jeremy Lin. Round 2 was a struggle with 16.2/30 for a 43.2. Got 2.4 on first James Harden question, and 0 on his scoring average. I went with 11.4...STATS with 19.8. We were slow on Carlos Marmol with a 3.8/5 on the first one and went with 2008 on his year for a big fat 0.

Round 3 was up and down with the O not registering on Konerko 2.3/5 and the W not registering on Will Power 4.1/5...even though STATS precalled the race question. Got 5/5 on Dufner, Coyotes, Sharapova, Bulls, Dawson, and Reds. Only 2.5 for Calving Johnson for a round of 43.9 and a total of 87.1 after 3 rounds.

Round 4 was ok though 1989 did not register, even though I said it as soon as I saw Aikman. With that 0 and a 0 on 2002 (we were on 2006...even though I knew they wouldn't do the same year twice in this round  ). Got 2 on 2006 (on 2004) and 1979 (on 1977). Got a 3 on 1999 and 1961 (started 1966...went to 1962 before 1961). Got 4 on 2008 as we were on 2009. Nailed 1994 for my only 5 of the round. My math is off somewhere as my total was 104.1...so got 17 that round...though my notes add up to 19.

Round 5...another hockey hiccup as we read it as the Conn Smythe winners...2/12. Tennis winners we got 6/12. Basketball coaches, draft picks, and baseball uniform #'s we nailed...though I was slow on the other 3 boxes I was playing so they only got 8/12. Total of 148.1.

Congrats to the usual suspects and bars: BLJAYS, GAVV, BO, BUG, STATS, L PATO, EL SID and anyone else I missed...and Walshs Bar & Grill (overall winner), 86th St., Varsity Grill, Mezzanine (who I'm guessing played b/c of the Six competition), Shakers, Primetime, and anyone else I missed. Looking forward to a better week next week!

The return to Varsity Grill and Bar in Tallahassee seems strange after playing at Hooter's the last four Mondays. Craig (Merkin) joins Richard (TPG) and the rest of the gang for what in May will be a warm-up for the Smartest Bar at 9.

Congratulations to BLJays for the #1 individual ranking last night. As I always say pertaining to Buzztime, either you know it or you don't. Last night exposed my weak spots, uniform numbers, hockey, and statistics in general.

My box Round 1) 30/30 2) 16.5/30 3) 43.9/50 4) 29/40 5) 40/60 for 159.4 total.

In round 1) we're watching the Cole Hamels plunking Bryce Harper incident and I absorb Bryce Harper's number is 34. I don't absorb Cole Hamel's as I'll cover later.

In round 2) We don't know James Harden's scoring average or Marmol's first year with the Cubs.

In round 4) Usually my "moving" round I move the wrong way on Ron Francis 2002 and Barry Bonds 2006

In round 5) After concentrating on Calder Award years, Buzztime throws a well-timed curve. Hart players are familiar but not dead on. We know Chris Pronger from round 2) last month is 2000 but flip-flop Hasek and Federov and Forsberg and Thornton. I'm ready for French Open material having gotten Wimbledon last week. We flip-flop Cole Hamel's and Josh Hamilton's uniform numbers.

I go 2, 12, 12, 6, 8.

Jorge (L Pato) is at Anthony's in Cape Coral just west of Fort Myers and the poker crowd and their music gets louder as the evening goes on. Richard gets a well-deserved game win as he should have gotten last week. Work and grandparenting permitting he'll be my teammate for the summer with Jorge gone a lot.

I definitely know I didn't miss a single question in SIQ on 5/8/12.

Had a box at 126+ through 4 rounds before mucking up every possible thing in matching.

our max box GAVV had 129.6 thru 4 (tho weird more than usual box score typos gave me a bigger spread between boards than normal). a not fast enough switch to Graf popped spotes up front with an extra 2 pts, and then random lucky Buster Posey guess got the two points back as I masterfully got by him on the jersey # question 2-nil. ;)

gavv

jersey #s are so unimportant to spotes, he managed to watch SC replays of the Bryce Harper plays for hours on end and managed to not remember correctly his #, much less Hamels :)

No, started to UCFHCY but I was in a meeting until almost 10:30. You're a much better leadoff than I am so I'll gladly wait on deck.
