Actually, I'd rather have a live game at 9/8/7/6 like those that seemed to work for nearly two decades.

I understand, I prefer the later start time as well. However player count has shown a nice increase in the eastern and central time zones because of the earlier start time. Player count is down in the mountain and pacific time zones post-split because of lack of competition and the start time is too late. I am certain a 5pm pacific start time against national competition would draw more players in the west vs. the status quo.

What is it a necessity to air The Season nationally? It's no different than any other premium or specialty game.

Yes, because The Season has head-to-head matchups. Players want to know who won immediately following the game. Absent that, I guess they could combine the scores out of the two feeds and announce which teams won after the West feed played.

Or even worse, they could just create two different leagues, one for the east feed and one for the West feed.

We want to know that with premium games now, sadly we do not thanks to the split.

I know what you're saying and am not trying to be argumentative, simply pointing out that whatever logic used to air The Season nationally can also be applied to any other specialty/premium game.

Or they could try going to England again and have a really really East feed.

The one thing different about The Season is there are no location rankings since that's not the purpose of the game. I know they're still posted in the HOF the next morning because that's the way the HOF is formatted by programming (much like Speed Freaks) . But really, buzztime shouldn't have location rankings in there for those two games. But I know you know that already :)

The biggest question I have about The Season this year is... Are non P+ scores going to count in the scores? If not, that could really screw things up big time. Unless they force you to log in under P+ to play, which would confuse the non registered player even more.

Let's see. You've enjoyed playing this game every week without fail for 16 years? Okay let's end it.
And you've also enjoyed playing within three miles of your house? Well let's pull the system and move it
to a store in Panama City 2 1/2 hrs to the west. Been a tough month.

I'm going to venture a guess that, given its name, The Pulse is all current event sports questions. This would accomplish two long standing dreams of BT sports game writers:
1. It will only take a single glance of the week's sports results and a whopping 10 minutes to construct a game. These people want to put as little time as possible into these games. A brush with the editing from practically any premium game over the last year should confirm this. (And it's also the real reason they chose SIQ over STC last year, BO).
2. Their abject lack of sports knowledge has been all but removed from the equation for game construction. The only thing they need to do now is not get a paper cut turning the pages of USA Today or whatever. (I know. I know. What's a newspaper, grandpa?)

Maybe I'm wrong.
It's happened once or twice before.

I'll endeavor to reserve judgment until I actually play this game.
Maybe they'll really wow us with all of the bells and whistles that BO loves so much... :P

I will also give the game a more than fair shake under two conditions. 1, it's a true sports game unlike The Season. 2, it does not have a final question where you wager your points.

I do hope it's something more than just rote Q&A ala STC.

LEWSER said he'd bet me $10 that the game has a final question, I quickly declined.

SPOTES, are we betting the quinella again on the final game of SIQ? :D

The only game I really wanted to win was the last STC.
I don't even care for SIQ that much to tell the truth.
Besides, as far as I'm concerned, we already won the last SIQ game on 2/27/12. Right, LEW?

terrific.............current events sports. Wonderful. How hard is that? Just read the newspaper everyday and watch Sports Center for an hour and you can be competitive. Spotes was right. Able to write a game in 10 minutes and be done with it.

Well......will give it a shot if thats all we get anymore. But if its truly all current events I dont think I will last very long

Pretty east to predict how the game will be. Questions identical in style to the current SIQ spelling round, except there will be 30 of them, and it will be all Countdown style questions/clues. 26 of the 30 will be gimmes, 2 will have mistakes causing people to miss them, and 2 will be asking what minor league hockey coach was recently fired.

This is exactly it: a premium game that they don't need a writer for. Anyone can phone this one in by taking 4 things from the paper every day and maybe jotting something down during Sportscenter. Awesome Sports Trivia Guy is left crying in his beer until someone playing Countdown hollers for help. They coulda been a contenda.

Wow, Buzztime's really catering to the smartphone crowd now. Not only can you play their games with one - and not even be in the bar - but now you can borg a "Premium" game with a sufficiently comprehensive Twitter feed

Sounds great! When can I play? Oh, the game starts right at quitting time? And the graphic on the BT website suggests it will actually be a 15 question game, thus if traffic's good, I'll get to Rembrandts in time to see the Network Rankings? Golly, how exciting :|

At most, I could play this once in a month, if the stat holiday falls on Monday and I'm even in town during such a long weekend. So yeah, I don't need 140 characters to express my overall opinion of this latest change. Half a dozen letters and my avatar will do

FPULSE :x

I apologize, but Ive been stewing about this all afternoon. How can you offer a sports trivia game and totally exclude historical sports facts, events, records, etc?? Im trying to imagine how answering an hours worth of current sports information is going to be challenging, entertaining, competitive, and fun. I know, I know, we dont know the format of the game yet, and that is true. Even if the format is top-notch and the graphics attractive, if the content is limited to current events how is that not going to fairly soon lose its appeal? And just what constitutes current events? The last 2 -4 weeks? The latest season? The latest year?
Im absolutely appalled. As I mentioned earlier I will give it a shot for at least a couple weeks, but this time they may have pushed me over the edge. I can certainly see taking Mondays off and playing SIX again as my "regular" game.

Anyone have any other hypotheses as to how this traversty might work?

Buzztime asks me not to be so insulting to their dipshit fired CEO (the reason I can't post on Facebook), and they pull this fucking garbage? Current events trivia, blech, like I posted on The Season, this so stinks of the 18-30 demographic who don't want to remember anything before they were born.

Can someone at Buzztime explain to me how this is a sports game, and what fucking dipshits requested more current content? I am going back into my Buzztime you are all fucking idiots mode. Buzztime said, "you can always go to the sports channel to get sports trivia." And what, play against the other 5 people in the country who can program that game to play?

They better gives us the 1500-2000 P+ points for playing and double it after reaching 10000-15000 since its a 30q-1HR game.

Maybe they outta design it like the 25 Years of Sports game just to make it more challenging...lol.

I know P+ points is meaningless, Lew but for those point hogs...let's let em have the right amount to satisfy them.

See Mitch, that last post of yours will be the only one Buzztime will read. They are too stupid to understand that they have a complete monopoly on this type of interactive game. But, they seem intent on ruining every last thing about the product. I will not reserve judgement on this game, if it is nothing but current events, then it is fucking stupid. I just sent a text to BO it shall be called, "25 Days of Sports," from this day forward. The BT 10 question game, # round, spotlight final wager, SIX should be called FOUR, SIQ giving points for being close, badges (limiting the usable question database), the idea people at Buzztime, every CEO Buzztime has ever had, and the split eliminating any form of competition out West (also, making time zone cheats-there is one out there, they were shit, now they are good); what do they have in common? They are all fucking stupid.

I try, my redeeming quality has always been that there is never any confusion on where I stand, or just plain telling it like it is.
