When I called, I mentioned the Trivia event, and asked for the rate. The young lady that I was talking to did not know what I was talking about. I negotiated a decent rate, and just left it at that. I guess I won't be in the block of BT rooms, if there is one.

See you next week.

(Mmmmm, beer!)

There is so much turnover at the place, it's impossible to keep up. ay Plus, I haven't been staying out as much lately.

Mmmmmmmmmm beer, indeed!!!

FWIW--If you have made reservations @ the Microtel, you may want to call and confirm them. They have had two management changes and, while it seems that all reservations are still good, it looks like not everyone is getting a discount.

Let them know that you are part of the BWW/Trivia block of rooms. This way, you may be lucky enough to have a room next to TOOTS...EGADS!!!

HA! I made my reservations on-line...therefore, I probably won't be in the designated trivia room block. OH DARN!!! That saddens me deeply..really really it does. Unless your room is next to the lobby floor, we won't be sleeping next to each other!

Well, its absolutely official. Just booked a room. I should be arriving Thursday night.

Got a nice price at the Wingate from Priceline. I believe the price quoted to me for the bash at the Microtel was $67 before tax. Did lots better.

Looking forward to seeing all of you!

We just changed our reservations to the Wingate. They have a special going on right now - 30% off if you stay 3 nights which made it $67/nite and they have king size beds.

I can't believe this week is here already.

I plan on being at BWW Wednesday night & first thing Thursday morning to troubleshoot, if necessary.

I won't have computer access starting at 3:15 Wednesday afternoon, so if anyone needs to contact me regarding WVBTO III, just call the BWW and ask for bob/tiefly. I'll more than likely be there continously starting Wednesday evening.

Looking forward to seeing y'all again.

Something has come up at the last minute that I can not postpone, so I am sorry to say that I won't be making WV III this year. I really enjoyed the first two and meeting everyone. Tiefly is a great host. I wish everyone a great time and I will be looking for BWW Bridgeport on the screen on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

I'm sure you all had a grand time. I did notice at least one wannabe trivia player quitting games at WV3 to protect his supposed average. I will say this, if I'm ever in PB, I will terminate every single BTT game after Q6 and CD game after Q8 just out of spite. Same thing for that hack in Phoenix.

I also noticed that it appears most players refused to play Speed Freaks Friday night although my buddy RHINO did well.

Funny stuff, how in the world can you attend a trivia function and not play trivia?

I don't know if "most people refused to play Speed Freaks" is a fair assessment. I would say that most people couldn't get in at least once to score points (positive or negative) because there were 40+ playmakers in use, and that's why you see a string of 0's.

I thought about that, and for a few players I'm sure that is true. However it would be most unusual from both a practical and mathematical point of view that 24 of 44 players didn't hit anything in time on every question. Knowing the weird proclivities of a bunch of this crew, I'd wager that no more than 5 players who registered 0 actually tried and/or played.

And the thing is, this would be the best environment imaginable to play Speed Freaks. A bunch of hard core players in one establishment that wouldn't cheat.

And I also think it's funny that 44 players in WV got beat by 3 players in Houston.

But as I've said before, having fun is paramount at these things. I'd just get irritated by a few things and a few people, but I'm weird.

Fair enough. I can honestly say I was trying on every question and was ready to smash that blue box through the bar about halfway through that game. And I can't say I was actively scanning the crowd to make sure everyone was playing/trying. It's probably reasonable to say that a fair number were outside smoking or chatting or doing who knows what.
