There was a cop in Denver that was hitting on my wife one night at a bar in Aurora (name slips me, but a few years ago the roof caved in after a snowstorm), he just wouldn't stop. I was in the bathroom and told him that if he didn't stop hitting on my wife I would beat him with his own gun (he was known to carry to the bar-he was undercover something I heard). He never said a word to her again.

Coincidentally, I heard a few years after that he was bitten by a hooker he was arresting and tested positive for HIV afterwards (I am not sure how true that is, but it sounds good to me).

I was debating making a trip (already did that ;-), my son) to Triviapalooza this year. Sort of like a last hurrah to Buzztime..

Lewser and Scar, if either of you makes it out, I promise not to sing until after you've left/passed out. How's that for incentive?

I'm sure Tom was the rep I talked to. I played The Season a few times and found it poorly designed but with potential.

Yeah, he seemed like a used caaaah salesman to me....

Don't think you told me this, though. Or maybe I just don't remember.

Kinda glad I didn't hear him. I might have tried to make up for not slapping Harry (I'M not so HERE) in head when he was flipping off the cops... :?

Bobby drinks enough for 4, that's why me, Spotes, and Chode are Dr. Pepper sippers. It all evens out.

Went to Mt. Carmel today - I think some of the brews will have to come to palooza this year, especially the Imperial Stout - yummy

Speaking of beer, Big Blue, the infamous Cooler from Cleveland, is taking requests. By popular demand, plenty of Old Leghumper is making the trip. Plenty of Mt. Carmel Stout is making its way home.

If anyone here wants hop and malt-based delicacies from the 216, 440 and 330 they can't obtain in their neck of the woods, drop me a PM and let me know. Great Lakes Christmas Ale is out of the question, but I know my way around the beverage stores with the best selections all the way from Lakewood to Kent, so if it's brewed in this region, I can find it.

Drop me a PM if you want a Northeast Ohio delicacy, and I'll bring it down. I have a "three-body trunk" on my ride., so as my contribution to 'palooza 5 will be an excellent Beer Summit, held at the LaQuinta.

For the effort, I request a 15% surcharge on the tax-included price, rounded to the next-highest dollar. When possible, I will avoid the sales taxes and sin taxes of Cuyahoga County.

It looks as if I'll be attending.

I plan to bring a token number of my not-world-famous-but-pretty-good chocolate chip cookies. TIEFLY and SOB have tried them if anybody is curious/suspicious. Is there anything else anybody would request that I bring from rural Southside Virginia? The rumors of jello shots and vodka gummi bears don't fit my travel plans...they'd fall apart during the drive to Triviapalooza. But cookies might make it...any other requests?

Don't worry about Bill's cookies. Pretty good.

They are NOTHING like BOTFLY'S cookies.

If anyone is planning on stopping by 86th Street Pub either before or after TP5 this year, please let me know so that I can arrange to have some of our regulars available to act as hosts during your visit.
I've already heard from some of you, so there might actually be more visitors than regulars playing but we'll see what we can do.

Is there a motel nearby? I drive through Indianapolis every year on my way to Cincinatti. I always thought there would be no one there on If stopped in at noon on Thursday on my way down or on Sunday on my way back? I might stop on a wednesday evening if there was a motel nearby.

Frank, there's a motel right across the street that rents Spartan efficiency suites by the week, but it's been booked for the summer for months now. There are about a half-dozen other hotels up Michigan Avenue between 86th Street Pub and the Interstate. All of them are about a half-mile to a mile away. Traffic on Michigan Avenue is significant...it's neither a pleasant walk nor an easy drive, especially if the temperatures are pushing 100 degrees (as they were during my visit last year). Embassy Suites is closest and, probably, nicest...they're also twice as expensive as several other sites a little ways further up the road.

There is a Days Inn two blocks down on Payne Branch Rd off of N. Michigan near I-465 that i stayed at when i was there last September. It has free breakfast, free internet and free USA Today paper. The rooms are so nice n comfy there. It's my best bet for your budget.

I haven't stayed there, but I agree that the Days Inn looks nice from the outside.

Those two blocks are seven-tenths of a mile, though, and that's cutting through parking lots. No trouble on mild, sunny days...in rain or 100-degree heat, I find a walk that length a little unpleasant.
