Once again, I'll plan to attend. Barring a major conflict.

Sorry to hear the tradition may end.

BIGDOG will lift his leg on Bargo's, a prime candidate for Bar Rescue, one more time, and hopefully not the last time.

Geez, just when I get a streak going, it might all come to an end?

Of course, the existence of Triviapalooza depends very much on the existence of Buzztime. I sure wouldn't bet the farm on whether or not BT buys it before July

And it wouldn't be the same without a token Canadian around to make fun of behind his back. Or in front of his face if you're SPOTES ;)

I apologize for not making it this year. I just had too much going on this summer to swing it....mostly home improvements including a new roof. Kinda sad to hear that this one could be the last one. Is this because attendance for last years was way down? Maybe it was just a bad weekend to have it or like me, people just had alot of things going on. If this is truly the last one, then I'll definitely make this one but would rather not see it stop there.

Cheers,
--Tony

Hey there, I have some questions.

Is this formatted at all? Like certain games over certain days? More to the point, is this a tournament?

Also, since there'd only be 20 playmakers, what happens when there are too many players?

Tons of people show up and it's one giant team with everybody sharing answers. Not a tournament and the usual games are played.

BT usually assists by shipping more than enough PM's to the location, I think the last big event had over 60 boxes going at once.

Just a giant party with most drinking more than they should. Good times.

BT also sends some swag. TOLLE & CHEESE also throw in some gifts from the beer reps. You can put up 14K+ games and finish 48th out of 55 people playing. People fall off bar stools or passout drooling. I manage to offend everyone at least once, particularly SPOTES...although I think Bill did a better job of pestering Harry last year.

Then there is "The JETS Has Talent" portion of the weekend, so bring extra undies to toss at the stage,

BO and TIEFLY pretty much summed it up. Over the years that this particular event has been held, we had players from over 20 different states (as far away as California, Arizona, and New Mexico) and 3 countries (good ole USofA, Canada, believe it or not the Netherlands, and a former British player who now lives in the States). There is a hotel in the same parking lot and plenty of boxes for anyone playing. CHEESE runs a live music trivia game between questions and all other forms of shenanigans are happening.

Buzztime has been very gracious in their help to CHEESE and myself over the years. They have had a rep present and given us countless swag to give to the players. They have also been very helpful in getting the extra boards to us and making sure things are in working order. We are lobbying to have the split removed for one of the prime time games for at least one west coast location, but we understand that this logistically may not be possible (still have to try though!). We've also raised a good deal of money for AIM for the Handicapped, the HepB Foundation, and the Winton Woods H.S. athletic program during this event.

I would encourage anyone who has the time, money, and love of trivia to come out.

In case you were wondering what a “bash” is

Many eons ago, in a hidden location that only the elders knew, a great gathering of legends of all things trivial was held. Members of this elite force were sworn to a Trivial Oath and dared not whisper a word of it to the unworthy. They came from far and wide, many using their amassed fortune from Jeopardy and $25,000 Question winnings to attend, to prove to meager serfs of the trivia world that they should indeed bow down before their greatness. Upon arrival, the Lords of Trivia gave the guards at the gate the secret handshake and were permitted entrance. Once inside, they realized this was not some dirty bar, it was the Eden of Knowledge. Solid gold playmakers were distributed and mugs of brilliance, that were carved out of the bones of Albert Einstein, were filled with a nectar befitting their excellence. The most comfortable of thrones was given to all – for their rears could remain tender because it was THEY that would be the givers of butt kickings and their precious heinies would never be within boot’s reach.

The slaughters that ensued were a steamrolling of destruction that left those in their path begging for mercy, begging them to let their inferior talents join their juggernaut… silly peasants! There was no mercy for the weak and no room for the unworthy. After a mere three games of the game called Countdown, all was quiet on the trivia front… every single bar and player had been defeated and had retired from the game in disgrace! Rather than fight the hopeless fight, they hung up their playmakers and returned to their lives. The Gods of Trivia were not satisfied though, they continued to play and didn’t miss a single question for 7 whole days… they were the greatest and even if no one was able to witness it, they knew… they knew.

So, as you can clearly see, Triviapalooza is by no means a “bash”. It is a gathering of nerds, drunks, and drunken nerds that play trivia, do very well at it, and have an enjoyable weekend with friends both old and new.

You forgot the Bash swag, Tolle.

I still have my scrimshaw fountain pen carved from the xiphoid process of Oliver Wendell Holmes. And if I had a dollar for all the times my gift of a keychain made from the hair of Casimir Funk helped me pick up chicks...

Almost forgot about all the money SPOTES won for me pre-calling the third clue.

Just like WWE....money in the bank!

No Granny panties please - some of us might go blind...

And there are people ready, willing and able to walk you across the parking lot to the hotel if you have had one too many.

Speaking of fine traditions coming to an end . . .

I can still do my bus trips by purchasing individual tickets directly to any cities I wish to visit, but it looks like my days of wantonly scribbling across the States on The Dog are over

Or I could restrain my trivia spending and maybe save enough to just drive out . . .
