Post subject:  Possible Meet-up Mid/Late April: Hillbillyville, WV

I was approached by BWW, Bridgeport management about having another WVBTO, to which I quickly said, "NO!".

I explained the East/West split, taking the fun out of the nightly competition with the anti-meet-ups and a watered down competition pool. Plus, TOLLE & CHEESE do a great job with the 'palooza and summer is much easier to plan for, especially weatherwise & Cincy has other things to offer.

Well, after the third (free) beer (which is a LOT for me these days), I started thinking about it. Dan, the GM who helped with the first WVBTO, is back at the site and said he would take care of EVERYTHING, including booking rooms at he Wingate instead of the Microtel. (Remember the guy at the front desk at the Microtel shushing everyone before finally conceding the conference room to us...EGADS!!!).

So I texted my lawyer, SPIEGS, to see if I could have counsel present; ZEBRA, to make sure I needed counsel present; LUREED, since I would need a bouncer/bailiff; and NICO, just for a voice of reason. All seemed willing to make the trip to Hillbillyville, as long as the date was good. I'm going to text a few others who don't necessarily follow this forum.

GOBLUE was also advised of the potential meet-up (in case we need air support), which means TOOTS will find out sooner or later (insert JELL-O references).

I have not committed myself to this yet, but I really don't have to commit much. Dan said that he would handle it, and I'll probably be there playing trivia anyway, so why not throw it out there. Last year, TOLLE & CHEESE (dude was near death) popped in, along with Zeeb, Spiegs, Jets, Lureed, & Nico. Tripod also happened to be close enough to stop by Friday night. It was what I was hoping for when I planned the original WVBTO...my friends visiting, drinking & playing trivia.

Dan seems to think he can get the rooms for around $50, which is a great price. The area has grown somewhat, with a likker store next door (they sell legal moonshine from right up the road), as well as a DQ & Little Ceasars. Oh, and a car wash!

I had a great weekend last year, since I have to play solo mostly. I got told to be quiet because the "kids at the bar" were offended by my language (Pens v. Flyers game was on) & jumped on the EMS crash cart, thinking that it was my ride home (unfortunately, some other guy was having heart problems).

And this is not a bash or 'palooza like event, in that it will be disorganized, chaotic, lowkey, and probably much smaller, with a limited chance of success. There will be drink specials and some food specials, I was told. The PMs will limited to the number that the site already has on location, which is 40+ the last time I checked. I will recheck later this week...more than likely.

So, if anyone would like to sally forth to the hills of West By God in mid/late April (date to be determined by SPIEGS' agenda), feel free to let me know so I can work on the discounted room, or just show the fuck up and I'll deal with it then.

Oh, it will be ramp season!

I imagine I'd be able to make it.

That is too far for scar to go to a bar in his car just to spar and beat the tar out of a trivia star.

Good.

I had you down as co-host or co-voice of reason. I forget which.

Feel free to bring a few others with you.

Good memory on the way to the gathering.

I pull off the highway in Bridgeport and FSHMAN and FREELS get out of the car. We stretch for a second, and I commented that we had made good time. Freels mumbles something and goes into the hotel.

Fshman says "You shoud have seen his eyes when you topped 120. He was really getting scared'.

I replied "But I had been doing that for the last few hours."

Fshman says "Uh-huh".

I felt bad for a couple of minutes.

I seem to remember that Freels was in shock and semi-comatose that evening. He said "never let scar drive".

Big deal. I'll get going up to 140 on the highways

Oh, wait . . .

Why can't you buggers switch to metric already? ;)

I'd like to come. Count me in unless something urgent comes up and I have to bail. I do have something something Easter (end of April).

Just Googled, Easter is the last weekend of March, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we can sit on the patio again and do some sipping, Charles.

HEY! I'm gone less than a year and already forgotten? I was there most of Saturday after taking the scenic route up U.S. 50. Just for that, you can forget about me showing up this year. Well that and the fact I am 2,700 miles away. Miss ya, Tie.

My apologies, Charles. You were indeed there. It's that damn BT time zone split...you don't exist to us on the East Coast anymore.

And Rt. 50 IS the scenic route.

Hope things are going well for you, brudda!

The dates given to me as options were April 12 or 19.

Taking suggestions as to which will work best for y'all.

I think I could make either work. I'm assuming it will start Friday and go through the weekend?

Yes.

I'll take Friday off from work and be there 11ish am. I'll probably be there Thursday night, too.

Glad you're considering making the trek, Charles.

Texted with SPIEGS yesterday.

The date will be the weekend of April 12th.

Hope that works for everyone wanting to venture to Hillbillyviille.

I'll talk to BWW management in regards to room discount code at the Wingate and get back to y'all.

And JETS confirmed that he will be attending.

BIGDOG from Cleveland may show, provided the Powers That Be in the workplace cut me some slack.

Just for one night, Sat. 4/13.

I love Hillbillyville! Had a blast in Morgantown!

Save a Playmaker for me.
