I've been playing trivia recently at a small bar in the Morgantown, WV area called Rip Rocks. Really friendly towards trivia players and NOT a chain, just a neighborhood bar. It's small, like Allburghers, and neither the county nor the city have issued smoking bans, thus smoking is allowed. However, I don't smoke cigarettes and have not found the bar to be "smokey".

Anyway, after a long Saturday playing solo, I got to thinking about the people I miss playing with and whether you bat rastards are worth the effort to try and organize something in yet another location.

It was a really close call...but, if there is enough interest, I'd be willing to try and put something together again in April, after the Final Four (I'm not sure of the FF dates since I just talked myself into this a little while ago).

There are presently 6 BT sites in the Morgantown area. Arranging lodging within walking distance will be the major obstacle.(It's a college town that host lots of events with limited lodging. I'll need to start soon to work something out with one of the hotels).

Morgantown does have cab services that are reliable and nothing is more than 4 miles away.

If enough people are intersted, I'll start looking into getting this thing organized.

How about the nearby resort town of Deep Creek Lake MD? Plenty of lodging. Great BT bar that you know pretty well.
Is it something to consider? No college kids getting in the way.

Then it wouldn't be a West "By God" event, would it, Mr. Passport. :p

I like playing at Black Bear, but I want a WV event. It's only 30 more minutes to Mo-town from Deep Creek.

There isn't much of a college presence at Rip Rocks, from my stops there.

The 4 downtown sites...a whole other story. The Damon's sits out alone.

Who cares if it's a WV event or not? What does that have to do with getting together with friends in a decent little lake town to play some trivia? Spring time at Deep Creek Lake would be beautiful. Nothing against Morgantown but come on it's full of college pukes and it's kind of grimy and dirty like most of WV. Just kidding. ;)

Tie, I had a good time at this year's open, and would at least consider coming. However, I'm also considering Cincinnati next year. But it would be great to have another WV event!

Cincinnati is a much better organized event. It is definitely worth the effort to get to. I plan on attending next summer.

I just found a nice mom & pop BT location with a hotel across the street that I thought would be cool with having 30 or so trivia players hanging out for 12-14 hours per day for 2-3 days.

Plus, the opportunity to easily get to 4-5 other sites during the festivities.

Again, I'm just trying to get some folks together to play some trivia. At my home site last night, I was the only person playing. Evan came in to play when I was leaving and he hadn't played in weeks.

If there is not enough interest in trying to pull something together, I'm fine with that. More Jell-o shooters and ramps for me!

Just give me a heads up, especially in the Bridgeport/Mo-town region, and I'll show up. I usually don't play in the southern part of the state. Too "metropolitan" for me...EGADS!!!

It'd still be a "God! By West Virginia?" event, though.

That's true. But when I show up there to play, it's usually, "Dear God 'NO'! Tiefly's here!"

I'm quite the crowd favorite @ Black Bear...EGADS!!!

Tiefly, I'd be interested in making a return visit to the Mountain Mama.

Would love to have you back, Scott.

The site I'm looking at is relatively small and away from downtown. The BWW in Morgantown is small. The three other sites are bigger, with one being a true dive bar. The four sites are within viewing distance of each other. There is also a brew pub next to the dive bar.

The sixth site is a Damon's, which I do not usual frequent.

Well after the Akhbar experience where I cancelled out on him, I hesitate to say I will be there for sure.

I didn't make it to his place as I had work conflicts and fantasy football drafts, and it just got to be too much.

It's hard to forecast my work out that far, but I will make every effort to be there.

I had hoped to make it to Stewarts, too. But school training started sooner this year and I was one of the last to realize it.

I've had a blast at your previous events and would love to come to another one in '11. Actually the non-chain type of location sounds so much better. We had a great time at Allburghers and another place such as that sounds great. The college scene wouldn't bother me too much but at least you wouldn't have to worry about them catering to some high school prom crowd. I'd say count me and my party in for that whenever you have it.

Cheers,
--Tia

I guess I can start a 'Hope to attend" list to at least get an idea of the number of Playmakers needed.

I personally like the girls from WV Wesleyan UV. They were nice to me.

Received a PM from CLEVR this morning and it looks like that he and the missus will sally forth aboard Traveler from Missouri to Hillbillyville once again.

Add TR as a hope to attend as well (depends on what weekend it is)
