I planned to go to my first Daytona 500 2/26 since 1960 but got rained out. I visited Mom's widower in Melbourne, FL and Dad in Port St. Lucie, FL before and after for a couple of days each. I played at Broken Barrel in Palm Bay, FL with Stu, Roc, and Salami. Very knowledgable fellows. The bartender bought us a round for our #4 bar finish in a Buzztime game at the time. Sort of a Logan's feel to the establishment but a partying place.

I played at Venetian Station, formerly R.J. Gator's, Sunday night. A very nice waitress and a killer reuben sandwich made for an enjoyable evening.

Waking up to more rain I thought will I get to see the Daytona 500 after all on 2/28 on my way back to Tallahassee? At Noon the announcement comes the race has been rescheduled to 7 PM. Better for the race teams and TV audience and I'll just have to wait again til next year.

I played Sports IQ at Bru's Room in Stuart, FL on 2/27. The game didn't start, it was 7:34 and then reboot hit the screen. I thought it was a system problem but was only at my location. After getting rained out for the Daytona 500 what did I expect? I missed the whole first round and when round 2 started I hadn't logged back in so I missed even more points. I finally recovered enough for a 127 which I would have been happy with years ago.

Both establishments had been upscaled with darkened wood tables and bar. I'm not used to playing trivia in such classy atmospheres.

For the first time in five years, I too missed out on this year's Daytona 500 when the race was rescheduled to 7 pm Monday. Just no practical way to get from the race back to my host's condo in New Smyrna Beach after a 1:00 am race finish. So, we made the best of it and spent several hours that day with CHICAU and the rest of the Peanuts mafia, and enjoyed management's generosity with several complimentary beverages.
