SoCal players JAMIE and myself (HEELAX/COGNAC) will be in Vegas this weekend. Where is the place to play now that Aces and Eights is no more?

We are particularly looking for a good game of Spotlight on Friday. We are both fairly good at Spotlight, will probably be decent at Topix/Celebrity Kids (March 4), and we share answers!

Thanks for recommendations...
Christina/HEELAX

For questions like this I find Don Denton's NTN site to be very helpful

http://ntn.donrdenton.com/

He tracks the Hall of Fame data for all premium games so you can see what sites play what games and what sort of scores they put up. For example, this link shows the top Spotlight bars in Nevada for 2011:

http://ntn.donrdenton.com/teams06.php?G ... 2011&SP=NV

I find it hard to believe that you play Spotlight nearly every week and you don't know where to play in Vegas currently. Do you pay any attention whatsoever to the national rankings?

Thanks for not answering my question and just insulting me instead. Why do you insist on trying to drive everyone away from these boards? Is that fun for you?

Honestly, I look at the ranking of the bar I'm at, and the other bars in Southern California, and maybe a few others. I've only been playing Spotlight regularly for about a year.

I find it hard to believe that you've been on these forums for a year and haven't been insulted by BO before. Do you pay any attention whatsoever to sarcastic remarks?

Heck, I wasn't even really being sarcastic. I just find it hard to believe that question needed to be asked. Rankings are shown Friday night. HOF is always available on BT's site. Don Denton has all SL games for ~10 years.

Think about it, for over 10 years now thanks to these tools I haven't had to post wondering where to go play when I visit a different city. Same goes for all the visitors we've had on Tuesday nights over the years. Same goes for all the people visiting SoCal. It's not rocket science.

But hey, I'm just a big mean jackass. What a dick I am for pointing out the obvious.

True, but she says she plays at Mr. B's... she doesn't often have to look past #1 in the Showdown rankings.

By that logic I have no idea where any other team plays STC. Somebody told me once there's some hole in the wall in Indiana though.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing with you at all, just discussing good-naturedly. But top players always know where and what their competition is doing.

I think we can all agree that some bars are more trivia-friendly places than others (even HOF locations) in terms of atmosphere, number of televisions, etc... Some are unusually noisy, have inconsistent qualities of food and service, and include trivia players that don't understand sportsmanship. Or perhaps everything's good but the majority of people come to play one game and leave afterward. Then you have those places that are so friendly that you want to stay all night.

Yes, the HOF should be a reference point, but a wise person will still ask the question just to gather all relevant information.

Ah that dump in Indy... I went into the wrong door trying to go to a hookah shop and stumbled into a buzztime bar of some sorts. There was some chubby guy with glasses in there begging me for answers, but I didn't think he'd be able to return the favor so I kept quiet.

True, most serious players know their top competition, but a more casual player may not have a clue or care.

Well hell, IMO the preponderance of players banging away at these games can be described as any or all of casual, clueless, or not caring about the issues those of us here (and, e.g., BadBart) care about and discuss.

Yeah, that guy is a real idiot.
Somebody was talking about glory holes one time and he thought it was a Civil War movie starring Shia Lebouf.

For the record, our group which usually finishes in the top 10 (all depending on if we know the final or not) will be at Club Fortune Casino, Henderson. It is about 20 minutes from the strip and easy to find.

If you plan on showing up, I need to know.

When was the last time a new visitor didn't sandbag you? :D

My wife and I will be in Vegas from the 12-16th. I'll definitely stop in a few nights at Club Fortune.

Lewser, I send you some texts tonight but I'm not sure if you text or not. I will call you in the morning to be sure. I won't be returning to this board in the future so I will have to talk to you that way. Thanks.

I got a chance to play with HEELAX, JAMIE, and LEWSER. HEELAX and JAMIE were nice... LEWSER lived up to his reputation.

Sure... we'll go with that. I prefer to leave a place when I'm ready to go... not because our party is asked to leave the premises.
