Given the rich history of number problems in Six over the years, count your blessings that elements aren't traditionally expressed in Roman numerals... the horror... the horror

In its posted list of Showdown Categories for next week, Buzztime spells Hemingway with two m's. Not a good start.

This has been mentioned elsewhere, but for the record:

Showdown, 21 July, Pyramid Round

"In physiology, ‘T3’ is an abbreviated name for a:"

One can argue that both "hormone" and "bone" are correct--T3 is a common abbreviation for the 3rd thoracic vertebra. If this question is used in the future, "bone" should be replaced with something else.

Lunchtime trivia 7/25 I believe it was the 12:00 game, the question was "Which of these animals is a Carnivore", and the correct answer according to Buzztime was Racoon. A Racoon is obviously an Omnivore.

Another blatant error on an academic topic that must have either been intentional or sheer lack of a second's checking (this never happens on TV/music questions). Since when could the Jewish exile/diaspora in the 6th century BCE be anything to do with the Romans, at the time a tiny village where few if any even knew that Jews existed? The psalm (or for the mouthbreathers the song) isn't "by the rivers of Rome" for a reason......

Well, hell. In an otherwise well written California Topix game Image, there was a grievous bungle in one of the early questions. :(

The question went something like "THIS *CITY* WAS THE CENTER OF A 6.7 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE IN 1994:" According to Wikipedia , Northridge is *not* a city...

Yes it was well written and Northridge is a part of LA. I didn't know where that damn apple came from. That was my only miss.

Countdown tonight, roughly 6:17 PM ET, we were asked Prince Andrew's spot in line to the English throne. A bunch of odd ordinals were given, with "5th" being given as the correct answer. The factoid mentioned that he used to be second in line after Charles, but now is also behind Charles' sons and grandson.

The question is a few months out of date. William and Kate recently had a daughter, who unlike in the old days, now has as much right to the throne as she would have were she born with a Y-chromosome. So the question needs to be updated, with the answer now being "6th".

A question in the 7:30 pdt countdown was about what ingredient is found in a bearnaise sauce. The second clue was "no yo-yo" which would throw one off the correct answer which is egg yolks.

Likewise a question in Countdown a couple hours earlier asked where Anne of Green Gables was set. The first clue said "No Prince of Wales", threatening to eliminate both Prince Edward Island and Wales, which wouldn't be so bad, of course, except for the fact that PEI is the correct answer.

Well, hell. Q2 of the noon Lunchtime Trivia game asked for an NHL franchise. Amongst the choices was VANCOUVER GRIZZLIES.

Whilst that NBA franchise started in Vancouver, they've been in Memphis for more than a lil while. :(

Well, hell. The last question of the 2:00 PM Pacific Academy of Football game had *three* right answers. The question asked "WHICH OF THESE SCHOOLS DOES *NOT* PLAY IN THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE?" Among the answers were Missouri, Colorado, and Iowa.

While there is no argument with Iowa, the last time this lil old grumpy bastard looked, Missouri was in the SEC and Colorado was in the Pac 12.

Well... now that I know the incorrect questions thread is back in play, I'll actually start posting them on here instead of just griping about them at the bar.

Like the time I was griping two Saturdays ago when there was a question about which QB threw his first TD on 11/17/83.
The desired answer was Joe Montana, who actually threw his first TD pass on 11/17/79.

What is the diameter of a golf hole? BT answer was 4.5 inches. Actual answer is 4.25 inches.

This has been noted in another thread, but probably ought to placed here, too, as it is more likely someone from Buzztime will see it.

Showdown, Tuesday 13 October, Final Strategy Question (under the category "19th Century Opera"):

An evil sorcerer named von Rothbart is a key character in this 1876 opera:

1. Tannhauser
2. Swan Lake
3. Madama Butterfly
4. Carmen
5. William Tell

"Swan Lake" was the correct answer, but Swan Lake is not an opera--it is a ballet. Either the word "opera" should be replaced by something like "musical work," or it should be replaced by "ballet" and other ballets put in as distractors.

Last night during the Marathon Six round, we ere asked what Jeroboam was the first king of? The correct answer sought was Israel.

But Saul was the first king of Israel. Jer didn't come on the scene until a few generations later. Granted, he was the first king of a fragmented Israel after it split, but that's akin to calling Slobodan Milosevic the first leader of Yugoslavia. Rather misleading.

Did BT screw up the names of both actors in Limitless during Smartest Bar Six?

I didn't pay attention to the name in the question, my eyes migrated to the word Limitless and I went to Hill Harper which was correct. Although I would call him a Costar, not the Star.

The Jeroboam question has been removed from the database.

Our content team has checked the Limitless question and all of the names are spelled correctly.
