I hope that TomD can shed some light on what happened here. (and yes it was a HUGE mistake)

Does 1 person write the questions with the correct answer & another person fills in all the wrong answers later during production?

There has to be some better way to vet these questions in advance. (or just drop the final question all together)

Any help TomD??

Ohh and How about those CAPS!!!!! At least one game went well last night.

Can I have my points back:)lol

I'm afraid I'll have to issue a "no comment" other than to say we deal in thousands and thousands of questions and it's just a matter of time before something gets messed up. I know I've committed quite a few whoppers over the years. My apologies to anybody who got that question wrong.

In the 7pm ET, Countdown, there was a question of which TV show did Edward James Olmos get an Emmy for. Miami Vice was a choice but then St Elsewhere was given as the answer. He got it for Miami Vice.

And Rich, stop being such a crybaby.

We got that one also, I mean we missed it also. But, I think it was BT trivia, I sent a text to BrandyB and she said they had the correct answer as Miami Vice. I see we are now subjected to different answers from BT?

It was a BT. Probably the 7:30 ET

This one is puzzling. Miami Vice is the answer listed in our database. Might be some gremlins somewhere in the system. I'll do some investigating.

Maybe it is also one of the Green Hornet questions, but the one that matters is in BT.

I remembered seeing it and it being wrong in the Green Hornet questions, but figured my memory is faulty :)

Saw a question two weeks ago about amber.
"Which of these is not true of amber?"
No problem with the correct answer about birch trees, but one of the supposedly correct ones was: "Has a pleasant odor."
How does the writer know that everyone who reads that question will also find the smell pleasant?
Was it written by Nosetradamus? :D

They found the offending question in the Green Hornet game and hopefully it won't be seen again. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

One of the Green Hornet questions, the one asking which classical piece the theme was taken from, has a misspelled answer. The Rites of Spring, it is in fact The Rite of Spring.

After reading and visiting a couple of links from your attached article, I was flabbergasted.
In not one of the top ten most "unpleasant odor" lists were New York City cabs mentioned even once. Clearly an error in the scientific method somewhere along the line...

STC 1/17/11

Final Round, which golfer won the British Open in his first attempt. Two correct answers, Ben Hogan and Tom Watson.

I hate having to post this, I ruined my Pi number! I might try to delete a post somewhere......

I can't believe BO was silenced for as long as he was over a crude approximation of 100π.

The 8:45 EST BT game last night asked: "Which of these words does not mean 'remorseful'"?

The correct answer of pestilent is fine, but unfortunately I stumbled upon "attrition" first, which also has nothing to do with remorse, and stopped reading.
Immediately after getting snockered on this question, I could only assume that the writer was going for the word "CON-trition".
Please let this person know the difference and that they owe me 1000 points on the kharmic wheel of life.

Actually, the question read:

THESE WORDS ALL HAVE
SOMETHING TO DO WITH
REPENTANCE EXCEPT:

The five choices were:

REMORSEFUL
PESTILENT
CONTRITE
ATTRITION
PENITENT

The correct answer is pestilent.

As far as the definition of attrition, according to The Free Dictionary, one of the definitions is:

"Repentance for sin motivated by fear of punishment rather than by love of God."

The question looks okay to me. Sorry, no 1,000 points for you. :P

Some question in the Warmup Round of Showdown asking about some ailment (I think) effecting some part of the body (I think). Obviously the word should be spelled affected and not effected.
