 Post subject: FOOBAR

Obviously it indirectly relates to the old WWII FUBAR (fucked up beyond all recognition/repair) but it actually relates to computer science (which I teach at NKU) as FOO and BAR were the variable names used by Ritchie and Thompson in the majority of their examples. When I first signed up for NTN back in the early 90's I wanted FUBAR but it was rejected so I took FOOBAR instead.

those two wrote, designed and implemented so much foo and bar made a lot of sense ... and shows their sense of humor as well I think - since like you and me, many of the early developers had a ton of 'fubars' which made life so good for us...
