Everybody I've met thinks there is much more behind my handle than there actually is. My office is a couple of blocks north of the World Trade Center, and my occasional local was A&M Roadhouse, which was right around the corner. Arthur Gregory, who ran A&M, loved trivia and really wanted to put a BT platform in (back then it was NTN), but he couldn't get a clear line of sight to the communications satellites for downloading. 9/11 changed all that, and by the end of 2001, he had his NTN computer in place, with 20 playmakers. I didn't move back to my desk until December, but I discovered the new trivia at A&M shortly after moving back. I started by playing by myself at the bar, but I happened to be playing on one Tuesday before Showdown when XTRAIN invited me to join the regular team. I've been doing it ever since.

I didn't have a regular handle yet, so I picked PNKPIG because A&M had a big pink pig sign outside its entrance. A few of the older regulars (mainly NYDAVY) even at other locations (e.g. TTLPKG) often referred to A&M as the Sign of the Pink Pig. I discovered the fortuitous connection to Pink Floyd later. There's nothing wrong with serendipity (I admit it can be annoying).

"...started by playing by myself at the bar..."

I assume you intended "with" rather than "by"?

Heh. I'm not sure I can handle the brilliance of your humor.

Gives a disturbing new meaning to "solo play"

Come to think of it, same goes for "Pink Pig"
