Sad news from the east. Applebee's Halifax is giving up Buzztime, so only one site is left in Nova Scotia - Freeman's Little New York, also in Halifax, which we'll be trying this Tuesday. I expect other Canadian Applebee's will be giving it up as well, since the manager said that the decision came down from the corporate level. It is a shame, since, although they did nothing to promote it, they were very cooperative and it was a pleasant place to play with some good food and playmakers that usually worked.

Sorry to read this. I've never played NTN at any Applebees, although I've always felt that trivia could work out in that chain.

Good luck with your new location.

Agree. I played at an Applebys somewhere in Georgia last year while heading up I-75. I thought the layout was perfect for NTN and like BWWs, they need something to distract you from their mediocre food.

Most of the Applebees in my area had BT for a few months and were doing quite well promoting it. Then one day I walked in and it was gone. The explanation was also, it was a corporate decision. The local manager was upset but what could he do? I mentioned maybe a local install would work as a few TGIFs have done. I was told that the locals have absolutely no decision making. I had my doubts and left it at that.

Morgantown, WV lost three sites in the last few months...Sports Page (home of WVBTO IV), Brickyard Pub, & Damon's.

A Tilted Kilt is going in the Damon's building, at least

Thank God I have my Sports Page T shirt.

(Now, if I could just sneak away with one of those kilts....)

Don't know if they are going to have BT, but it would be nice.

That said, I have ben talking to my local bar owner & he has given me the OK to looking into BT at his site.

I may pay half, but that saves me gas & money to my increasingly lagging BWW...the only game in town now.

Will see...

I think Applebee's food is actually quite good. Much better than BWW. I used to go to one twice a week, unfortunately, it fell victim to the recession about three years ago. And the next-nearest Applebees went out of business a month ago, leaving one about 20 miles away as the closest one to me now. :(

Which one closed?

Boston Pizza in Manchester gave up trivia. Didnt have much play nor did it maintain good boxes so not a surprise. And with a BWW open around the corner, the writing was on the wall.

With Friday's dropping trivia and Damon's closing around me the only chains to have trivia is BWW and BW&R. BWW has the lag and BW&R just has a bad bar layout. Hopefully some small local bar will get it by me.

Welcome to the Board! :)

By the way, where do you live? We might know some places a few miles away that are worth the drive.

Did Johnny Malloy's drop it? It used to have some good players and it is still listed on the Buzztime website as a Medina location, along with JoJo's.

Of course you are always welcome to play with the Fellowship at Stringz and Wingz in Streetsboro for Showdown on Tuesday nights :)

WV just added another site, bringing the total to 19.

This one looks to be in the middle of the George Washington National Forest...

I'll have to stop in to those places sometime.

That's neat. Now we can play trivia in the middle of a national forest.

Not unless you can get through the security at the gate, I bet.

As mentioned here before with the closing of Varsity Grill in Tallahassee, FL., other than Hooters, three Applebee's are the only non-smoking alternative as Pockets Pool and Pub and Poor Paul's are smoking establishments. Saturday between 11-4 appetizers are half-price and every night after 10. Sucha deal. TPG, L Pato and I make the rounds to all three locations, Killearn, Capital Circle, and Appalachee Parkway. The food is above average and fits my protein/fast-carb/slow-carb "diet" right now (20 lbs. lost since the first of the year).

You can add Applebee's Killearn location in Tallahassee, FL., to those that have pulled NTN. Just last Tuesday Arthur, Raoul, Zippy, and I played Glory Daze, Showdown, and Brainbuster, ranking no lower than #21. Just this Saturday night, the location ranked #10 in Playback. I mentioned to the manager we were trying to give them as much exposure and play as possible. I was to meet Arthur and Raoul last night and I walked in just before Glory Daze was scheduled to start and saw no Arthur or Raoul but the manager coming to tell me NTN had been pulled to be relocated to Panama City. I sent an E-Mail to Applebee's corporate protesting their decision but have already decided to play exclusively at Hooter's except on Tuesdays then Applebee's Capital Circle by default, assuming they don't pull it from there anytime soon. (Hooter's and Applebee's Apalachee Parkway have live Trivia on Tuesday nights) Oh yeah, their new slogan stinks and they won't see me tomorrow.

Avenue Ale House in Oak Park, Illinois recently dumped Buzztime. They must've had it more than 10 years. Not much team play and only on when requested. but the place has 100s of beers available. Oh well...

Side Pockets Saint Charles MO at the end of last week. They had lunchtime, afternoon and night players giving them a lot of business. Mr Lucky's a new site ten minutes away will be the new home to many.
