Death of an old NTN bar

The lights went out last week on a long established trivia bar in Tampa. Operating as Murphy's for the past five years, it was previously known as the Rockin' Hard Café, Johnny G's, The Old Ale House and originally, the Yellow Rose Steak House.

That's five different names because it had five different owners and each new owner made significant changes but NTN trivia was a constant throughout an almost twenty year run. That might be a record for most different NTN customers with the same address.

It's a nice place and it's a pretty good location so someone will probably try something new there. Hopefully they'll bring the trivia game back to the neighborhood with them.

), back in 99 I visited there when it was The Yellow Rose. I also visited in 02 when it was A.J.'s Ale House. Here's hoping, along with The S O B and others in Tampa, that it reopens and brings back NTN Buzztime.
