The location started out as Sam's Irish Pub, changed to Sam's Concert Pub, then The Concert Pub, then finally The Pub Galleria. For many years it was a great place to play Playback while drinking "smitchers"---individual-sized pitchers that held at least 2 pints, thus allowing individuals some of the efficiencies of serving themselves. It had a back room perfect for sharing answers that was reserved on Tuesday nights for Showdown et al. And the calamari with a very spicy sauce was great. This was the location from which the McCarthy Cup and Sandbagger Tournament winning team emerged, although by that time the back room had gone away, and we were playing at the bar. Then other things went away: the smitchers, the calamari, and ultimately the game itself. On June 13, the location its closing its doors and going away I will always remember the great nights playing trivia and poker. Brooke/AARDVK |

I am so sorry to hear this, Brooke. It was truly a legendary location in NTN/Buzztime-dom. I remember all too well the night that Concert Pub knocked us out of the McCarthy Cup on the way to its 2012 Championship. I couldn't really hang my head over losing to such a great and storied team. Sincerely hoping you are well, all things considered. Please give our best to COOGS. |
