Introducing the fourth annual Calgary Open Challenge!

A team competition for BT locations in the Calgary area during the month of September, it consists of Showdown and one of the SIX games each week for five weeks - namely, August 31 through October 2. Registration is automatic, based on BT's Site Finder data. We have 27 sites this year, down only one from last year, though there has been the usual level of turnover

Each site gets one drop score for each game, and the champion is determined by the highest aggregate score of their eight qualifying games. We even have a Travelling Trophy for the winners to proudly display and/or magnetize dust at their location!

Past Champions:
2007 - Melrose Café & Bar
2008 - Boccavino Lounge
2009 - Boccavino Lounge

Since the demise of the Buzztime forum, I am forced to impinge upon Scott's bandwidth for reporting the weekly standings. (It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission, after all )



Boccavino grabs the early lead over Melrose, but Rembrandts show themselves to be possible contenders with the best SIX score of the first week. Schanks lurks nearby in the shadows . . .

Week 2 standings in the COC. Melrose is now nipping at Boccavino's heels after a SIX game that saw a sharp decline in site scores between 4th and 5th places. (This humble commissioner swears the $500 bills in his Monopoly game as a youth were red - but orange turns out to be the correct answer)

Drop scores are now in account. Melrose has taken the lead, with Schank's and Rembrandt still in the mix

Uncle Eddie's has closed as of August 31, and it is unclear where their players have migrated

The 2010 winner of the Calgary Open Challenge is Melrose Café & Bar!

Second place goes to last year's champs, Boccavino. Rembrandts, Schanks South and Bonasera Pizza round out the top 5
