So, watching Star Wars episodes 4, 5 and 6 tonight (yea, not much else to do), and was pondering a question.

My understanding is that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are to reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Leia (Solo) and Han Solo (respectively). These actors are going to reprise their roles 30 years after they were on the screen. That got me to wondering about a trivia question, for which I have no answer. Has there ever been an actor/actress who brought back their character after 30 years (or more)?

Clint Eastwood went aboot 17 years between his first & last Dirty Harry movies & Sean Connery went aboot 21 years between his first & last appearance as Bond... That's as close as I get.

Ian McDiarmid as the Emperor in this very series, Star Wars.

If you go with Star Trek you have Leonard Nimoy first in 66(TV) then in 2013 for Into the Darkness. You also have Shatner in Star Trek Generations..

Assuming you are referring to the gap between appearances and not merely years of service in the role, the only gap of around thirty years or so that I can think of right now would be Lemmon/Matthau for The Odd Couple and The Odd Couple II. The first was 1968 and the second was in the late 90s.

Jeff Bridges in Tron 1982 & Tron Legacy. 2010 for 28 years is the longest I can think of.

Paul Newman as Eddie Felson in The Hustler(1961) and The Color of Money(1986) but that's only 25 years.

There was Charles Bronson's role as Paul Kersey in the first Death Wish movie in 1974. There has been sequels of that series, but I have not checked the year of the last one in the series. Nor have I seen them.
