Who were the first two one term U.S. presidents?

The question sounds dumb, but the answer is acutally pretty interesting.

Who were the only two First Ladies, who never lived in the White House?

(There is a close third, who misses out because of a technicality.)

Who was the first president born west of the Mississippi River?

Heck, why not ask, who was the second?

Bess Truman and Dolley Madison. 3rd would be Martha Washington. Though Buchanan did not marry.

Here is an interesting trivia question....

The glorious 28-week Presidency of James Garfield was first class all the way. His assassin Charles Guiteau put tremendous thought into selecting the precise firearm he would use to shoot the President: a .44 Webley British Bulldog with an elegant silver handle. Why was Guiteau so careful about choosing his weapon?

I believe that it had something to do with posterity, his legacy, that sort of thing.
Chuck suffered from, among other things, a narcissistic personality disorder.
Or maybe he just liked pretty guns.
It could go either way...

If it's something other than that, I'm always willing to learn.

Spotes, right line of thought. Charles wanted it to look good in a museum on display.

Well, no one seems to obey the rules of this thread so...

I'm just guessing late on an inebriated Friday...

There are no rules posted for this thread.
It was Franklin Pierce.
